Why go back to this far if doing so is going to make it hard to tell the difference between this year and other post-"eradication" years? Why not project this year's final total? People will see this graph and think "that little blip's what everyone's worried about? Typical MSM scaremongering."

A graph showing yearly makes cases back to the mid 1980's. There were significantly more makes cases prior to 1992 than in subsequent years, making it hard to compare more recent years. Also, the graph compares this year's current total through mid-March without projecting a year's-end total, which makes it hard to directly compare the severity of this year to previous ones.
