This is a levelheaded and correct take, but I still think there are negative long-term consequences in providing an easy skip for challenging gameplay. I think it lowers the average player skill level, which in turn means games are made less challenging/fun.

I like Zelda games trying different looks. WW's cel-shading still looks great and even if SS's impressionism attempt didn't always work, when it does I think it looks great as well. At least on the Wii, where textures are blurred together more. OoTR's visual style does not look nearly as focused.

I think OP's point is more applicable to the LA remake or EoW, with the tilt-shift blur, figurine proportions and toy-like environments. If they were really going for a puppet/ceramic aesthetic, I think they should have gone in harder, but as it is, I really don't think it works.

Even if this reading is true, I don't think the art direction works and the supposed design philosophy is not applied evenly. The NPCs clash with major characters and the environments really do not evoke any ceramic/porcelain post-war nostalgia either.

The premise of her being a hungry, hungry Metroid is cool though. I really hope they can lean more into body horror shit with this and offer a more spooky atmosphere than Dread. I want to see more of the original horror inspirations shine through and this would be a great reason to get spookier.

I am absolutely happy with a new 2D Metroid. But, seeing so many of those cinematic takedown kills worries me. They were annoying in Dread I'm just generally kind of tired of seeing Samus pull off ninja moves like this. Feels like we're heading down a more melee-focused path and I don't want that.

Easily explained by TLoZ being a massively popular franchise with fans from a very broad age group. Fans aren't changing their minds, there's just so many of them, all with different perspectives on what Link should look like. They're all wrong too, because MM Link is the best one.

Overall, not impressed. Looks like it really just is OoT again, with more graphics than ever before and that is just not exciting. I AM excited for the concerts though. Hope to catch one with my friend if they ever play here. Been a long time since I saw a live video game concert.

Well.. I like the models and faces, they look very OoT to me. But, the lighting looks weird. The glossiness makes characters look plastic. It's giving UE5. I also don't get why every single environment needs to be absolutely covered in fog/dust particle effects. What's going on there?

All genres are arbitrary and only exist to facilitate discussion. That said, 'Metroidvania' just sounds stupid and dumb. Most 'Metroidvania' games are just Metroid, with no Castlevania. Personally I like Search Action, or Action Exploration.

The first ~200 chapters of the manga are genuinely fun to read. The early artwork has a loose, energetic style and you can watch that slowly get sucked out as it goes into Part 2. The War Arc is some of the most tedious shonenshit I've ever read.

It was even worse during the Wii U era. So many claims about Nintendo finally going third-party because of the failure of the console. Never taking into account what a short-term solution that would be for a company that is always trying to play the long game.

Jet Force Gemini probably. I think it reviewed well, but 16 years later with the Rare Replay release, I saw a lot of people shitting on it. Such a unique feeling third-person shooter with a fantastic sense of scope and atmosphere. Just remember to set the controls to Expert ASAP.
