Building on work by @dgrand.bsky.social @hugoreasoning.bsky.social @m-b-petersen.bsky.social @ac-lopez.bsky.social @profmholmes.bsky.social and others, we show IR may have over-rationalized what’s often an intuitive impulse, and offer a new reason why conflict spirals can be so hard to escape.

Man The Hunter should not be accepted blindly, but is the strong male bias in hunting really a "myth"? Here is my plot of the most comprehensive data on individual hunting returns that I know, Koster et al. 2020🧪 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... (Caveat: the Koster data do have limitations & biases)
Scientific American cover. Woman the Hunter: New science debunks the myth that men evolved to hunt and women to gatherPlot of individual hunting returns (in kilograms) per trip, by society and sex.

Congratulations to @zeitzoff.bsky.social on his new book, a timely and compelling look at why democratic politicians turn to insults and violence even though it turns off voters. Drawing on original data from the US, Israel, and Ukraine, it’s a role model for cross-subfield work!
