Leaving aside hipster barbershops for a moment, I am even more fascinated by the retro aesthetic of these two hairdressing salons in Tetuán district.

Another barbería in the Tetuán neighborhood, Madrid Shaving Club. In addition to the name, we see English in "lounge", "open" instead of "abierto", and the bilingual "book your appointment". Spanish is less prominent. No pictures of beards.

A couple of pictures from Ikaro Barber Shop in Madrid (at La Vaguada shopping center, to be precise). Notice the exaggerated beards and the use of English: "barber shop" instead of "barbería"; "just for men".

Superintelligence = Fully Automated Ads "Meta’s ad platform already offers some AI tools that can generate variations of ads and make minor changes to them before targeting the ads to users on Facebook and Instagram. Now, the company aims to help brands create advertising concepts from scratch."

"Scale AI helped other businesses build A.I. technologies. It hired armies of contract workers to sift through vast amounts of data, labeling and “cleaning” the information so that it could be used to train complex A.I. systems." From @karenhao.bsky.social in "Empire of AI":

Very impressed with "Never Again Will I Visit Auschwitz", Ari Richter‘s superb debut graphic memoir published by @fantagraphics.bsky.social! Thanks to @vmspod.bsky.social for the recommendation!
A page from the graphic memoir Never Again Will I Visit Auschwitz by Ari Richter. At the top, handwritten text reads: "Our current reality feels just stable enough... I understand how my relatives in Germany were able to ignore the writing on the wall... until they couldn't." Below, three panels show: a stroller passing graffiti of guns and an American flag that says "MEET MY FAMILY"; close-ups of anxious eyes; and two figures pushing a stroller past a building vandalized with the word "Jude" and swastikas. More handwritten text says: "The truth is, things would have to get pretty bad for us to leave. We have work and family that tie us to NYC—a city that, even in the event of a successful fascist coup, is a likely final holdout of democracy."
The bottom half shows a split scene: on the left, labeled "Today," a calm Brooklyn street with a woman saying goodbye to her child getting into a car ("Thanks for the ride, Mommy!" / "Of course, my love. See you Wednesday!"). A lightning bolt divides the scene from the right side, labeled "Some time later..." which shows a bombed-out, dystopian street with armed soldiers riding in a truck.

Walle, Jürgen Van de. 2008. “Roman Jakobson, Cybernetics and Information Theory: A Critical Assessment.” Folia Linguistica Historica 42 (Historica-vol-29): 87–123. doi.org/10.1515/FLIH....
In the letter Jakobson suggests that a closer collaboration between engineering and linguistics is crucial for the future development of linguistics (cf. Segal 2003, chapter 6). Moreover, after having read Wiener’s Cybernetics, in a brief note to Weiner, Jakobson (February, 1949) declares his astonishment at the striking parallels between the problems of cybernetics and linguistics he discovered while reading Cybernetics: At every step I was again and again surprised at the extreme parallelism between the problems of modern linguistic analysis and the fascinating prob- lems which you [= Wiener, JVDW] discuss. The linguistic pattern fits excellently into the structures you analyze and it is becoming still clearer how great are the outlooks for a consistent cooperation between modern linguistics and the exact sciences. (Quoted in Kay 2000: 297–2987, my emphasis, JVDW; MIT Archives, Wiener Papers, MC22, Box 2.92)

I agree with your point. But when Latour emphasizes that "facts are constructed," he is not suggesting that "nothing is real" but rather highlighting how fragile facts are. As I was revisiting the sections I had underlined when I first read the essay a couple of years ago, this passage stood out:
