Most of my family are lawyers, bankers, engineers, doctors, etc. I enrolled in the engineering school at Rice University, promptly discovered it wasn't for me, switched to Econ/Poli Sci which I found far more interesting, but as my work at that time moved from banking to investment...

Slow progress still on the new work. But it's progress. Spending a lot of time parenting and DIYing. But I think the worst is finally passing and my kids seem settled.

Awkward, surreal(?) One of my favorite things to do every year is to go cook a harvest dinner at Shiner Bluestem. They provide me all the meat for the dinner from the farm. It's a way to pay respect to all of it as a chef. It's grounding. Cooking meat is too abstract to far too many of us.
