Last night I got to present how I include nonbinary language in my Spanish classes to my state teachers’ union’s pride group. Felt really good to be in community with some truly amazing educators. Feeling extra thankful for my union today! 🏳️‍🌈

If you're headed to ACTFL this year, I am moderating an ACTFL SideBar titled "Supporting LGBTQ+ Students and Colleagues" on Saturday from 11-11:45. Would love to see you there, and dream of better schools for us all. ❤️🌈

Leading a gender-inclusive Latin dance workshop at the recent Alumni Reunion at my school. Sharing my culture, values, and dance in a welcoming space reminded me that joy, dance, and inclusion are critical, especially when many feel they don’t belong. Feeling so grateful for this!
I’m still reflecting on how special it was to lead a gender inclusive Latin dance workshop during the recent Alumni Reunion at my school. As a Mexican national and immigrant in Vermont, being invited to share something as personal as my culture, values, and dance movements in a welcoming space means a great deal to me. In times like these, when many of us are made to feel like we don’t belong, this experience served as a quiet yet powerful reminder that joy, dance, and inclusion truly have a place. It's significant when we create that space ourselves whenever we can.I’m still reflecting on how special it was to lead a gender inclusive Latin dance workshop during the recent Alumni Reunion at my school. I feel sad when I hear about colleagues who see their job as evaluating whether or not a student is "cut out for" AP/higher level classes, rather than doing everything in their power to build on their strengths, preparing them for high-level work. A lens of inclusion helps EVERY student.

All the analyses of Kendrick Lamar's Halftime performance belie all the talk about illiteracy and anti-intellectualism. The fact that we're dissecting metaphors, visual representations, patterns, and social studies from 13 minutes of material speaks to broader ideas of education. So much to learn!

Note to self: Don't worry about the weekly plans for now; focus on the first 15 minutes (or more!) of the first class after winter break to build community, create an affinity space, and lay down essential foundations and courtesies—that's what matters most!

There’s a list of politicians and pundits that have to take responsibility for the xenophobia and harassment of fellow human beings who just happen to not have US citizenship. “No one is illegal” means we put collective humanity first. Doing otherwise is petty at best, perilous at worst.
