And I always liked sanity, although it’s misnamed and we never used indefinite insanity as written as it’s odd and clunky. But the core of it being effectively a “tension” mechanic is imho kind of genius.

Call of Cthulhu was the second or third TRPG I owned. (Palladium’s Robotech was the other possible silver medal winner) It was so different from D&D and Fighting fantasy that I never really “got” the game for a few years. But to be fair I was 11 at the time.

From the other place, but I do think people need to hear this. Whiteness is a totally arbitary catagorisation, it can be granted or removed at the whim of white supremacist. Liberal politics' greatest error in the last decade was leaning on the idea, ceeding ground to the white supremacist argument

Don’t get me wrong, it’s well illustrated and an enjoyable read. It just plays it safe conceptually way too much. The lurid and strange tragic millennium kinda of just gets a generic dark fantasy coat of paint with steampunk details. (We do get evil boss baby still)

I finally got my hands on this and… it’s just ok? I really enjoyed the Blondel/Poli/Recht Elric adaptations so I was ready for a bold reimagining but it’s pretty pedestrian all things said.

AI getting any foothold in our culture is a side affect of the arts becoming overly commodified. A few centuries ago you could not ponder anything like generative AI lest you’d be set upon and murdered by a band of impassioned poets.

<and I do like to push the medium I am in as I do see it as potentially being more creative and experimental than is often presented Not to say less experimental games are bad! Its just my interest as a writer to push the medium and expression within that medium. Anyway to make a long story short..

Mad Max 3, alongside Furiosa: a Mad Max Saga, tap into the mythic undertones of Miller's wasteland unlike any of the other films. Post the collapse of civilisation it is a world of children without parents who act on their lowest urges and constantly build decayed copies of the before times.

I rewatched the Mad Max series recently, a favorite bunch of films for a whole list of reasons. Rare genre film series without a bad entry. I know a bunch of people will be "but what about Thunderdome?" Nope you are wrong, honestly I find it a joy to watch.

I honestly think the aesthetic of Age of Sigmar owes a bunch to Rackham and Confrontation which is a massive plus in my book. Cadwallon: City of Thieves is my problematic fave TRPG and is full of this stuff.

It's probably (imho) the only good Ito adaptation? (I have not watched the live action Tomi movies yet that said) While it pulls from the Manga it does attempt to visually be its own thing which is a strength so many other adaptations lack. Not a masterpiece but creepy an enjoyable.

Part agree? I think the changes to the characterisation of Space Marines and the ratcheting up of the Imperium’s Xenophobia are larger contributors. Demons existed since Rogue Trader just not by that name, and were always one of the threats dwelling in the immaterium. (Vampires too!)

I can’t agree? Fiction should be in part an emergent property of the system you are using. If it isn’t your game has its gameplay friction in the wrong places. It’s not about having a certain amount of cognitive load, it’s about having the right amount in the right places. But..

I’m not one for much fan worship but Tom Baker was a very important figure in my childhood. He has had a turbulent relationship with the show, as well as a turbulent personal life, but assuming stuff for him behind the scenes are ok for him I’m so overjoyed to see him so happy at 92
