The State of Tennessee, and by extension, the United States, tortured a woman tonight in failed attempts to execute her. Morally repugnant and barbaric doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Just watched a bee fly into a spiderweb. The bee and spider fought and it looked like the bee "won" the fight. It's still caught in the web, though. Nature is metal.

‘If you lie to me, the day after I am not here. I will be out and I will not be your friend any more” Well, Pep. You’re either a hypocrite or you were in on it, eh?

Toure, Adebayor, Clichy, Nasri, Sagna - all players Manchester City lured away from Arsene Wenger's Arsenal in his final decade at the club. In '16-'17, the year the CL streak snapped, City finished 3rd to Arsenal's 5th. Arsene didn't get the sendoff he deserved b/c of City's cheating.

At what point does the Manchester City stuff implicate UK financial and regulatory law? It seems like the sort of thing the government should be investigating, too.

There really is no limit to the ripple-effects extent of Manchester City's cheating scheme.

Bernardo Silva is disgusting. There is no doubt in my mind it was targeted and intentional. It’s who he has ALWAYS been as a player. Someone on Norway should have knocked the snot out of him. Once a cheat, always a cheat. He deserves nothing but scorn for his irrelevant career.

Breaks rules. Tries to hide rule breaking. Cries foul when caught and punished. Manchester City, by both action and attitude, have shown and continue to show that they are not suited for membership in an organization (the PL) in which all the members agree to be governed by a set of rules.

A host of Premier League clubs with their own highly paid lawyers are likely lining up to attempt to extract their pound of flesh from Manchester City right now (they’ve probably had the lawsuits ready to go for a while now). And I think that’s beautiful.
1241
Aaron Lerner @aaronclerner.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
In addition to the decade of rule-breaking, Manchester City also tried to hide their infractions by not cooperating with the duly empowered investigators, just as they did with UEFA in 2020. Even if they hadn't been cheating, there is no justifying or defending that part.

Yep. And we should hound broadcasters to do the same. There should be no talk of any of City's (tainted) accomplishments without first acknowledging their near-decade of systemic cheating and their attempts to hide it.

Aaron Lerner @aaronclerner.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
By the way, we're not going to play the "how much did the cheating actually affect the winning" game with Manchester City. They won. They cheated. The wins are illegitimate.

And by everything I mean they should, for all intents and purposes, be made ti start over as a club. Forced sale. Relegation to League Two. All players released from contract. The current version of Manchester City is rotten to the core and built on an illegitimate foundation. Back to square one.

Aaron Lerner @aaronclerner.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
Everything Manchester City accomplished and everything they continue to do is illegitimate. They robbed all of us, supporters of every single club in the footballing pyramid, of so much. It won’t happen, but the FA / Premier League / whoever should take EVERYTHING from them.

Aaron Lerner @aaronclerner.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
It seems unlikely Manchester City will be punished in a way that adequately addresses almost a decade of systemic cheating used not only to win silverware but also to build an illegitimate foundation as a platform for continued success. But this is a modicum of vindication.

I suspect you'll find it wasn't as bad as it seemed at first blush. Think the match had a nasty combo of opening 10-15 minute effect, when Arsenal looked particularly bad and then score effects. The second 15-minute chunk of the first half was even / slanted Arsenal.

On day one of J-school, we were taught that the journalist’s job is to get people the information they need to know to make informed decisions about issues of public concern. Hasan Piker is not part of any of that in any way. Journalistic malpractice.

From Gabriel's reactions on both of Brighton's first two goals, it seems like the defense wasn't on the same page on either goal. He was clearly expecting someone to do something or be somewhere they weren't.

Aaron Lerner @aaronclerner.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
On Brighton's 1st goal, it looks like Bruno is mostly to blame for the time and space Gross had, with maybe an assist to others for not communicating someone needed to pick him up. Konsa late to step out to Kostoulas. Rice and Bruno both step towards Vuskovic. Pass beats all three.

Aaron Lerner @aaronclerner.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Just watched it back. 10th minute. Bruno and Ødegaard took FIVE Brighton defenders out. Bruno easily dribbled beyond the sixth, who intentionally tripped him from the side / behind with a slide nowhere near the ball. Stopped an Arsenal 5 on 4. It's worse refereeing than I even thought.

Aaron Lerner @aaronclerner.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
I keep coming back to this (which happened at 0-0, by the way). It’s such a bad miss from the referee to not recognize a clear tactical foul after getting beaten to protect an out-of-shape defense. And it sends a CLEAR message to Brighton that they’ve got the green light to press like madmen.

Aaron Lerner @aaronclerner.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
There's really nothing that I saw today from Arsenal to create any concern going forward. Pretty much everybody had a bad game at the same time against a team that was playing well.
2192
Aaron Lerner @aaronclerner.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Not to take too much away from Brighton, but that intensity was 100% enabled by the ability to grab and foul guys without being whistled / carded from behind when the press broke. de Cuyper should have been on an early booking, as should Gomez.

That can't be. Fabian Hurzeler is so tremendously concerned with restarting the play quickly, as he talked about at length last season.

Arsenal are by no means the only side that values developing players and bringing them through to the first team, but it's part of the club DNA and an important point of pride for us supporters (and I'd wager for the team, too). Long may it continue!

Ah yeah, I've forgotten that Spurs had to play in the previous round against Championship side Charlton and scored against them. Found their level. Hope you'll forgive me for not knowing or caring about Tottenham's endeavors in the Milk Cup.
