Cavan is FAR too young to be a veteran of the posting wars, though. That shit honed elder millennials online.

Kind of wild that at the end of this Mikel Arteta contract, Arsenal will have two of the four longest serving managers in Premier League history.

The dog, as he sometimes (often?) does, has fallen asleep to start his night in my spot in the bed. That means I'm not actually allowed to get into bed until he moves of his own accord to a different spot.

Every trash day in my neighborhood. Where are the wheelchairs, children walking to school, elderly, etc. supposed to go, neighbor? This has frustrated me for a while.
An image of a crosswalk where the curb-cut ramp to get back up onto the sidewalk on the other side is almost completely blocked by two trash cans and a recycling bin.

The problem is you’ve got to tell the AI how to run the team. The real move is to train an AI agent to control the AI agent running the team. Then you can scale it up. Create entire leagues of AI agents playing against each other.

They should make a floor that isn’t as far away to get down to as you play with children / dogs as you get older.

Don't have much of a personal opinion on whether Renee Slegers should stay or go, but it's tough to see her surviving this poor start and tough stretch.

Totally deserved block. I'd consider unblocking just so that I could block again and again.

Not every person needs or deserves a redemption arc. Certainly not those who have done, as far as we know, nothing to repent or reform, as in Watson’s case. He is playing in the NFL. It’s not a feel good story or a triumph over adversity. So as Mina says, let’s not act like it’s something it isn’t.

the pope knows ball. this is precisely the line of reasoning that I’ve defaulted to. art, creation, creativity are distinctly human things that, by definition, cannot be created or replicated by machines. the human component is intrinsic and definitional.
Image of a tweet from Pope Leo XIV that reads:

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

My 2 cents (as somebody who isn't in the room for press conferences): coaches / athletes should be given grace for stuff like this if it's an exceedingly rare thing. We're all human. Our emotions can get the better of us. But you get, like, two over the course of a career.

He did a lot of good things with the Caps, pretty much everything decently to well. Except scoring. The dude could not score.

Yeah, definitely. If we're being rigorous about it, you'd have to start with per game numbers for comparison!

Oh yeah, I know! I played a lot of hockey and can definitely attest that position players wouldn’t shoot 100% from down the ice.

Aaron Lerner @aaronclerner.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
This particular comparison is a bit apples to oranges w/r/t what’s needed from the teammates because to go 100 yards, you need good enough blocking.

Aaron Lerner @aaronclerner.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Yeah, that makes sense. I think it’s a little bit more difficult than you make out. If I had to split hairs. Definitely more of a circumstances thing.

Aaron Lerner @aaronclerner.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
It works from the “length of the playing surface” angle but I feel like buzzer beaters being pretty common, even if not full court ones, makes it not quite line up.

Aaron Lerner @aaronclerner.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
There have been 21 goalie goals in NHL history. There have been 327 no-hitters, so it doesn’t REALLY line up. There have been 24 perfect games. On numbers, that’s much closer but isn’t a perfect game a far more impressive feat than an NHL goalie goal?

Igor Shesterkin's goalie goal last night got me thinking - what are some of the roughly equivalent feats in other sports? My first instinct is no-hitter in baseball.

So I live in a very suburban neighborhood, and the last two days on the morning dog walk, around the same spot, there is clearly someone waking and baking. I mean, sure. Live your life! Just not necessarily what I’d expect from Suburbville, USA.

The State of Tennessee, and by extension, the United States, tortured a woman tonight in failed attempts to execute her. Morally repugnant and barbaric doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Just watched a bee fly into a spiderweb. The bee and spider fought and it looked like the bee "won" the fight. It's still caught in the web, though. Nature is metal.

Uh, sure. It is reasonable to ask him whether he had any knowledge of what was going on during the 3ish years he was at Manchester City. He will say no, of course.

Do they turn on him if Arsenal have won more games because they haven't had key players pried away? Do they turn on him if they're still in the Champions League and still able to spend CL money? That's the thing.

That's not even close to all the different ways in which Arsenal have been negatively affected by Manchester City. That's one person. At one club. There are hundreds if not thousands of other individual stories sullied by their cheating.

Toure, Adebayor, Clichy, Nasri, Sagna - all players Manchester City lured away from Arsene Wenger's Arsenal in his final decade at the club. In '16-'17, the year the CL streak snapped, City finished 3rd to Arsenal's 5th. Arsene didn't get the sendoff he deserved b/c of City's cheating.

At what point does the Manchester City stuff implicate UK financial and regulatory law? It seems like the sort of thing the government should be investigating, too.

Not a great sign for the Vikings, but in many ways an even worse one for the Bucs. With Baker's injury, is their season over? Only thing holding me back from "yes" is that division.

That decision - a big City salary and the shot at (tainted) trophies - should come with consequences. They're far from the biggest villains in the story. They may not really be villains at all. But they made a risky choice, prioritized things above ethics and fair play, and should hear about it.

I think the Manchester City players, particularly the ones that joined the club after the charges had been laid, are getting off rather easily in the public shitstorm. They chose to join the club with knowledge of what might have been happening and could happen in the future.
