I'm sorry but if someone like me with critically terrible math skills can make a game from the ground up from literally nothing in 6502 Assembly without prior knowledge of it, under 4K for a console from 1977 where you can't simply put a pixel exactly where you want—you don't need to use AI.

It can definitely lead to fairly serious consequences, but this has always been their policy to avoid geopolitical issues over a map. For example, in China Google Maps will show not show Taiwan, it just comes up as being part of mainland China.

In fairness, this isn't the first time two countries have clashed over the name of something. Google Maps is a localisation Nightmare between countries disagreeing on names, contesting borders, or just refusing the existence of a country. So their policy is to just copy from your governments data.

Not to mention big jams always have the element of big streamers influencing the vote. I remember I think 2 years ago, Mark streamed the games, played one and said it looked great, and within a few hours it was the most popular game on itch, and won. (Not a complaint, just the nature of big jams).

I think I realised a while ago that you just have to ignore the results lol. I've been in jams where I've felt like I've done really well and put in alot of effort, then the winner has been a team of professionals that work at Rovio (Angry Birds) who obviously made an amazing entry.

I had that thought when I saw the post from the Sandfall CEO a few days ago, where in 2 sentences he says AI shouldn't be used for creative tasks, but also programming is completely ok to use it for because I guess he doesn't consider that creative at all.

In the Video Game Club program, Sandfall Interactive head Guillaume Broche said that the studio does not use generative AI for creative work. According to him, the technology is suitable for individual administrative or programming tasks, but the creation of the world, characters, and plot should remain with humans.

Broche admitted that generating creative elements with AI "takes away the joy of creation." He also noted that the entire industry is thinking about a future when the capabilities of artificial intelligence will become significantly broader.

I've seen some programs use it when programs have an option for "Save to cloud", to differentiate between saving to a local folder Vs saving online. I guess it's starting to just be used as a more general save icon

In my list of AI oopsies, seems to span the whole range from making 1 script that ends in disaster, all the way to "I spend $200K a year on AI Credits to run my company" The main threads are just overconfidence and a lack of understanding of the technology they're using. bsky.app/profile/aaro...

Yeah, it doesn't help with the amount of misinformation about the campaign, but from what I've seen their goal generally isn't to try burden struggling studios with more work, it's targeting giant companies that design their games with a kill switch and go after anyone trying to remove it

In fairness, alot of what they're pushing for is for games to be designed from the beginning with end of life plans in mind. It takes money for studios to design game servers to be company owned only, alot of what they're against is a conscious choice to allow companies to kill the game instantly
