We are now in an existential crisis for American science, 3 d into the new administration. The proximal risk: without grant funding the biomedical economy collapses. The lasting risk: American leadership in science falls. People leave science. Cures for cancer, Alzheimer’s, etc… are compromised.

My department @moraneyecenter.bsky.social asked me to shoot portraits for our Research to Prevent Blindness report, so I busted out the 1st gen. #Leica SL with an 85mm f/1.2 #Canon FD mount lens from 1977 that would be hard to manufacture, even today.
