"Im Mittelpunkt des Projekts steht zunächst die Entwicklung eines sogenannten Enhanced Governance Model." TL;DR: Looots of yapping, no promises. I'll make a prediction: No results of practical relevance.

If I recall correctly that'd mean that a fundamental particle could be converted to any other fundamental particle within the BH, thereby contradicting the standard model that's valid outside. Ex: An electron falling in carries charge as info. Lose it and it could be a positron.

This account is generally known for posting AI-generated slop. Best case scenario: There's an actual article to be found about an actual project. Common case: Nothing but generated images and text. This topic has been done ad-absurdum, much like the energy transmission through air in Finland…

Those that lose their data this way deserve every ounce of it. If you've got resources to waste on LLMs you've got resources to spend on a sane backup strategy.

Same holds true at uni/research institution level. New shiny feature first, demonstrated working on a specific case. Performance second, correctness… Whether it works in a year's time is left as an exercise to the new student. That then carries over to orgs that recruit the researchers.

What's sad, at least in the UK, is that the govt. *has* dedicated institutions (Turing, Hartree, var. universities) that have drunk the Kool-aid before and partially sobered up and could advise properly. They do not, however utilise that expertise nearly enough (and cut it on a large scale).

The Casimir Effect is a quantum phenomenon where two uncharged, parallel metal plates placed very close together in a vacuum attract each other. This happens due to quantum fluctuations in the vacuum, showing that even empty space has energy.

* due to the restriction of the modes of the fluctuations between the two conducting plates from a continuous to a discrete spectrum, thereby resulting in a force-density difference between "inside" and "outside" Also: the origin of the "Zero Point Module" idea from Stargate etc., I believe.

No problem! I learned for myself that the project is apparently not dead. It made quite a splash in the news around 2013-ish and then was mostly silent starting 2015 so I thought it was dead.

Except this idea has been tossed around for way more than a decade. Its name: Desertec and is a non-profit consortium. The profit alone was not sufficient, esp. while the gas was fairly cheap and stable coming from Africa. Gadaffis' fate did not help the projects but Desertec is moving along now.

After the workshop by @jasongorman.bsky.social I went in to start refactoring my legacy simulation code. Now performance drop and up from 10 to 20 test cases and it only took a few hours. This task is so much easier when you actually approach it via TDD (or at least via test-accompanied dev 🤣 )

Nobody in an official capacity would write this, but a kid living off the internet certainly would. I wouldn't even put this as AI-generated, this could just as well be a quick-and-dirty collation by a human. Though nowadays it's a coin toss heavily biased towards AI as to what's used 🤷

That is why I added in another response that I did overlook their heat capacity since I was considering a fixed point in time. You still obtain higher surface temperature but it isn't retained because of low mass, high th. conductance and lower (25% to concrete) heat capacity.

Fair point. I was looking at the momentary state during the day. The panels have a negligible heat capacity compared to the ground (and more so if it's asphalt).
020
a-lebedev.bsky.social @a-lebedev.bsky.social · 06/06/2026
You're always creating shade on the ground & lowering temp. there. You just may be getting higher temp on the roof than you had on the ground before.

a-lebedev.bsky.social @a-lebedev.bsky.social · 06/06/2026
That heavily depends on what the basic substrate is. If it's grey brick/concrete plates its surf. temp. will generally be lower than the surf. temp of the panel. If its black asphalt the temperatures will be identical. Ex: both pictures taken at the same time of day.
An infrared thermometer pointed at the back side of an illuminated bi-facial solar panel. The thermometer shows a surface temperature of 53.9° C.An IR thermometer pointing at grey plates in sunlight. The temperature shown is 40.9° C.

Works under the assumption of infinite usable space. If you are constrained by space placing tidal generators between the necessarily far-apart wind turbines would be meaningful.
