Headlines moved on quickly from the schoolgirls in Minab. We don’t know their names; no media profiles about their lives and aspirations. No smiling photos attached to quotes from mourning families. How unfair that some dead are memorialised while others are relegated to ‘estimated casualties.’

Stepping back it's quite a macabre indictment of modern society how we all follow wars on social media these days as if they're sporting events. All suffering is fought over, and war is reduced to just more online content. Ironically only detaching us further from its reality

It was not inevitable that generative AI would lodge in the culture as an explicitly right-wing technology; that it has done so is the result of a series of ideological decisions by its makers, the ideology growing more overt and desperate as AI's very serious problems become more apparent

The commentary of armed actors in #Libya from the likes of Haftar to local commanders shows that even if this situation doesnt inflame, the environment is already one of war. The new UN roadmap alone wont be enough to change this, it's where the diplomats must come in to build out on it
