Rising temperatures & more frequent heatwaves are a clear signal of #ClimateChange – and pose a risk to public health. New figures of the heat-related mortality monitoring show: - In summer 2024, ~326 deaths were attributed to heat – less than in 2022 & 2023 - Summer 2024 was the 6th warmest in 🇨🇭

Exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months is critical for infant health, but economic pressures often force mothers to stop early. A study by Swiss TPH & the Lao Tropical and Public Health institute in Lao PDR found that financial support increases breastfeeding rates by 5 times. shorturl.at/F6STm

The ‘next 1,000 days’ (ages 2-5) are a critical time to build on early childhood development but many children still lack adequate support. In a new Lancet Series with contribution from Swiss TPH, authors call for increased investment, with a focus on access to early childhood care and education.

HPV Awareness Day: Recent study assessed the accuracy of 3 screening tests in detecting cervical pre-cancer in women living with HIV in Zambia. The authors found that hrHPV testing, gynocular colposcopy & VIA performed poorly as stand-alone screening tests 🔗 bit.ly/4bQaefo
