Today, on Yom HaShoah, we pause to remember the six million Jewish lives lost during the Holocaust. We honor their memory by uplifting the voices of survivors and renewing our commitment to fighting antisemitism, bigotry, and hatred.

The Bloomingdale Family Program in Manhattan Valley is as good as it gets for early childhood education. When we talk about spending our tax dollars wisely, this is what we’re talking about. Pre-k, 3-k, Head Start: investments in families and the future.

Sanitation Chair Abreu’s response to Mayor Adams fumbling composting rollout, pausing fines

Mayor Adams continues to undermine the City’s Zero Waste goals — first by cutting composting education, then by claiming that they had all the resources needed for a successful residential organics rollout. Clearly, that was a lie.
When the administration refused to invest in public outreach, the Council stepped up — funding $6.25 million so trusted nonprofits could spread the word. Meanwhile, this administration has fumbled a citywide rollout of a program that had already been successfully piloted.
If DSNY’s $1.9 billion budget can’t fund basic education, what are we even doing? The Mayor can’t cut corners, botch the rollout, and then blame New Yorkers for being confused, especially when he never prioritized educating them on the rules in the first place.
We’ve heard from New Yorkers — they want to do the right thing. But the City has to help. That means investing real money in education, not outsourcing the job to stretched-thin nonprofits and hoping no one notices the failure.

Afterschool programs are life changing for kids and families, and nobody does it better than The Brotherhood Sister Sol. If every kid had access to a place like BroSis, this city would be unstoppable. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/17/a...

Today I met with parents, teachers, and students to talk about public safety in Morningside Park. There’s a lot we can do to make sure our kids feel safe on their way to and from school. When we talk about making our city work for families, this has to be a priority.

For our city to prosper, equal work must mean equal pay. But women still aren’t paid fairly for the work they do. It’s time to act for pay equity in our state. I'm backing PowHer New York for investments in childcare and pay transparency. We must close the gap. #EqualPayDay
