It isn’t Castlevania, but I did score me a couple of Nintendo DS classics today!

OMG, @necrodragon413.bsky.social surprised me this morning with some amazing pixel art of me as Trevor Belmont! Thank you so much!!

So…about stream scheduling come football season. College football doesn’t mean much to me. It’s a thing up here, but only when Boston College is good. Which is almost never. What can I say? We value things that actually matter like public services, education and snow removal up here.

Whew. That “get me through” coffee with dinner was a mistake. I don’t feel particularly well right now. I know what it’s like to be over-caffeinated, though it’s hard to explain. The good news is, Ultima came today! The box isn’t in the best shape, but it’s complete!

010

PandaHeroRouxVT @pandaheroroux.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

I mean…wow. I struck gold with this one. Sure, it’s a 5.25-inch floppy version. But holy shit this deluxe set of Wing Commander came with EVERYTHING. Not just the two expansions, but every last piece of documentation and every poster.

For thy edification, m’lord. ‘Tis not just Ultima, either! @richardgarriott.bsky.social

Last delivery for this week. SimCity Classic! All of this goodness on just two 3.5-inch floppy disks! I’m gonna have to drive to MicroCenter this weekend and get a floppy drive. I need to know which of my disks work and which ones don’t.

So far, here’s my big box PC collection. It started around this time last year with SimCity 2000, but it began in earnest a couple weeks ago. Hoping to add to this a bit.

PandaHeroRouxVT @pandaheroroux.bsky.social · 29/07/2026

It is here. The game I started my entire retro PC collection for: Ultima VI.

PandaHeroRouxVT @pandaheroroux.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

And this came today! I have the Book of Lore, so I ain’t missing that sandalwood box, I’m gonna learn how to play Stones! Lol

Haven’t updated my iOS stuff yet, that I’m aware of. But I did get the macOS 27 developer beta on my MacBook. It looks nice, though I don’t think it’s made too many changes under the hood. Also! Our favorite Cajun lawbreaker is in my collection now!

PandaHeroRouxVT @pandaheroroux.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

@thespoonyone.bsky.social old, but gold. Figured you’d appreciate this one.

PandaHeroRouxVT @pandaheroroux.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

Secondly, the game we’ll tackle next March for my birthday: Gabriel Knight 3. This one had a rip in the box that I had to fix with scotch tape. It’s also missing the manual. But the discs are flawless. Same for Crusader. Honestly, I can’t wait to play this. #RetroPCGaming

Cool stuff alert! My last two games for this week have arrived! First up, Crusader: No Remorse. #RetroPCGaming

This is an absolutely beautiful copy of Civilization II. The instruction book is almost 200 pages. The disc is pretty scratched, but I’m not worried.

PandaHeroRouxVT @pandaheroroux.bsky.social · 22/07/2026

First classic PC game of the week! Something good did eventually come out of the Ultima VIII engine.

000

PandaHeroRouxVT @pandaheroroux.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

A lot of my games are in boxes and ready to move, as my wife and I are on the hunt for an apartment. But I’ve got a forgotten PC classic for #RandomGameSaturday: Battlefield 2142. Independent servers are still going, not unlike Unreal Tournament 2004. This was stuff consoles couldn’t do in 2006.

PandaHeroRouxVT @pandaheroroux.bsky.social · 10/07/2026

Oh man. I messed up on this one. A 2nd player only NES controller? I didn’t even know such things existed!

You know that if the White House actually did have something to do with Balogun’s reinstatement, the NY Post would be lining up to blow him over it.

000

PandaHeroRouxVT @pandaheroroux.bsky.social · 19/06/2026

Balogun didn’t score, but I think it’s worth this.

Haven't done one of these in a while! Pledge Game Month! Time to make some inroads on Kingdom Hearts, and FINALLY do that Crusader Kings 3 stream with @necrodragon413.bsky.social! PSA: There will be no stream this Saturday because I'm taking Aspen out for her birthday (which is next Sunday)!

112

PandaHeroRouxVT @pandaheroroux.bsky.social · 01/06/2026

It may have been off-stream, it may have taken a couple of hours after getting to Act 6, but I DID IT!! I BEAT NINJA GAIDEN!! Am I a real gamer now, fam?

Just kinda threw mine together as I came into the office today. A lot of it is nowhere near as unique as Almantas’ selection. And yes, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 sucks. Don’t @ me.

And voila! What an amazing recipe. Everyone liked it, and I made just enough.

The hard part about this ricotta mixture is not eating it with a spoon, or just using it as a dip. It’s a pound of ricotta, some red pepper flake, pecorino cheese, spinach, oregano, lemon zest, and some other stuff.

The Astra Militarum has literally trillions of squishy humans to draw from. In some ways, they’re kinda like the Orks. Just much less for comic relief.
