I noticed that "Order of the Sinking Star" just came out, the new game from the dev of "Braid" and "The Witness." And... I dunno, man, just from the still images I'm not sure this game is for me. I'm not blown away by the presentation here, which seems to be mainly block-pushing puzzles.

I started playing Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and it's pretty good. What's weird about it is that there is a story mode to the game, but the story is just kind of... nothing? You play a guy who joins a new racing league, and one racer in particular is kind of a dick. That's it.

I think my favorite episode of Star Trek TOS (but not the best) is "Mirror, Mirror." I've always loved the concept of the evil Mirror Universe. It made me want to write something about humanity discovering a parallel universe and discovering that we were the "evil" side. But then South Park did it.

Dunno. I've already watched TNG and DS9 on my own, and I'm really not interested in watching Enterprise. I've never been able to get into Voyager, either; I just don't like the ensemble cast at all. I might be done with Trek for the time being.

I've reached the episode where the Enterprise is taken over by Space Hippies. The show has reached a low point where it's actually kind of uncomfortable to watch. I do not remember the show being this bad, but it's *bad*.

I've reached the episode "The Mark of Gideon." It's at this point that Memory Alpha says the show had gotten so bad, producers were starting to quit. And apparently dealing with Roddenberry was totally unpleasant for everyone. The show is actually kind of hard to watch by now.

I was curious about some of the Trek episodes I've been watching, so I started reading Memory Alpha entries on them. Apparently both Shatner and Nimoy were notorious assholes on-set, and nobody liked working with them, even permanently scaring off several guest directors.

Gandalf suggested Moria because he'd heard Balin had gone there, and most orcs in the Misty Mountains were wiped out at the Battle of the Five Armies. As far as anyone knew, there were probably dwarves in Moria, and probably not orcs.

Well, from what I recall, nobody really knew what was going on in Moria. But I think most people believed that the situation there was pretty dire, considering nobody had dealt with the Balrog, and nobody had heard from the last Dwarven expedition that went there.

I started playing the "War of the Ring" board game with Miles. Miles is playing the Fellowship. We're a few turns in. In this retelling of "Lord of the Rings," Gandalf the Grey abandons the Fellowship immediately after the Council of Elrond and runs back to the Shire to mobilize the Dwarves to war.

The Klingon makeup in the original Trek series is just so bad. They're all smeared in this muddy brownface, patchy and unevenly applied. Hi-def does this show no favors sometimes.

Watching another episode of Trek where the Enterprise plays host to an alien ambassador so twisted and weird that the mere sight of them causes permanent, violent insanity. That is, unless you're a Vulcan wearing red goggles. I love this concept. It's great.

Yet another episode involves the Enterprise trying to divert an asteroid from destroying a colony of "Indians" which, again, just happened to evolve on another class-M planet. But isn't that a violation of the Prime Directive? Either old Trek has a terrible grasp of the Prime Directive, or I do.

It's a concept that worked much better in "Sliders" (my all-time favorite show!), because these "what if" questions are much better answered with alternate history scenarios, as opposed to just coincidentally discovering ANOTHER M-class planet that JUST SO HAPPENED to develop just like Earth.

Yeah, I imagine they must have been desperate to keep the budget low, because most of the episodes are clearly filmed on the backlot using borrowed studio costumes. It kind of reeks of desperation by the time we reach the gangster episode.

I've been marathoning the original "Star Trek" series. The writing quality dropoff from the first season to the second is quite noticeable. Frankly, I'm amazed it got picked up for a third season. The many episodes where Kirk deals with the Prime Directive are almost all hilariously bad.

And that's where I think the problem lies. The game is heavily reliant on the dodge/parry combat, and there is a *lot* of it. It gets repetitive and tiring in the first playthrough alone. I'm frankly too exhausted and bored with the combat to go through the game a second time. I'm burned out.

I understand what you're saying about multiple endings being common, but I think there's a difference between having multiple endings, and being forced to play the entire game several times to experience the complete narrative. As it is, you just don't get the full story in one playthrough.

I wasn't aware that getting the actual ending of "Silent Hill f" required three complete playthroughs of the game. That's ridiculous, to expect players to grind through your game that much just to experience the full story. It makes me not want to finish it even a first time. Am I wasting my time?

What is up with the scarecrow puzzle in "Silent Hill f?" Is it just poorly translated, or what? The clues don't seem to correspond accurately to the correct scarecrow in virtually every case.

"Resident Evil" is not too bad, as long as you're aware going in that it is really a gore-comedy that treats the source material with utter contempt. This is actually a wise decision by the director, because the source material is, for the most part, stupid garbage. #ResidentEvil

I met Mr. Garriott a long time ago, before the introduction of LLMs. He never seemed the type to take the easy way out when it came to a creative venture. This is very sad news to hear. If I still had his ear I'd urge him to reconsider this direction, but sadly I don't feel it's my place to do so.

I thought they were fun. I think many of the complaints are perfectly valid, but I also think people were way too hard on the project. A lot of people had a knee-jerk reaction to things being different and raged against these changes when they should probably just relax.

I'm liking "Zero Company" fine so far, what little I've played of it. The Steam discussions appear to be full of bellyaching, for some reason. There are visual stutters here and there, but hopefully everything I mentioned will be patched out soon.

I'm having some kind of glitch crop up in "Star Wars: Zero Company" (PC) where I can't back out of the Armory menu. Nothing works, not the ESC key, nothing. You have to force-close the game entirely. Anyone else running into this?
