A life-threatening storm surge is expected from the Mouth of the Mississippi River to Suwannee, Florida. Residents in the warning area should follow advice given by local officials and evacuate immediately if told to do so.

National Hurricane Center forecast for Hurricane Isaias, issued October 8, 2026, at 10 AM CDT. Isaias has maximum sustained winds of 85 mph and is moving east-northeast at 10 mph. The hurricane is forecast to approach the northern Gulf Coast Friday evening, making landfall near the Mississippi-Alabama coastline before weakening as it moves inland Saturday and Sunday. Hurricane and tropical storm warnings are in effect along portions of the Gulf Coast, with additional tropical storm watches and warnings extending inland. Hazardous conditions can occur outside the forecast cone.

If you've ever been to Mount Baker, you might have wandered over to Artist Point or past any number of high mountain ponds in the summer. These often dark pools are surrounded by bare stones, grasses and lichens. And sometimes watched over by the Queen of the High Court #watercolor #dragons

I just got this awesome illustration from @meg-james.bsky.social of Ignis trashing an oil refinery! Ignis would probably not actually do this in 'canon', but it was such a fun idea with all the dramatic fire and explosions I just had to get it, and Meg James really did awesome with the idea!

Ignis, a huge red dragon with golden belly scales and charcoal-grey wings, is attacking an oil refinery. He's slashed a distillation tower with his claws and is now breathing fire on the spray of different oil products, flaming liquids spreading from the destruction. Fires already burn below him, showing he's already been at this for a bit. He's additionally smashing another distillation tower with his tail.

I found 'A Short History of Humanity' which says it follows dna evidence for prehistoric human migration. Hopefully a less shit-stained book on the subject!

I'm extremely glad you chimed in! I'm really desperate for what basically amounts to paleoanthropology for dummies, and so far this book has seemed fun but has a lot of weird biases in it. I'm always really happy for your expertise!

I had to kind of be convinced of the first mistborn book until it was about halfway over. I really didn't know what I was getting into, and it kind of helped for it to be categorized by my husband as a heist story. But then once we got past the heist part it was infinitely more interesting!

I am using Libby to access the audiobooks! My ADHD is bad enough that sitting down to physically read a long book like this is nearly impossible these days. I love listening to an audiobook through my whole day
