Safety at home, clean air inside and low cost energy must go together. Households - like businesses - need support with the upfront costs of switching to electricity from gas, alongside energy policy that makes electricity affordable to use. [2/3]

New research by American universities found concerning levels of air pollution linked to using gas to cook with, even with extraction running. While the study focused on commercial kitchens, it raises important questions that matter in our homes too. [1/3]

Households face a brutal winter as gas and heating oil costs rise.

On LBC, we called for urgent support to keep people warm and faster investment to help households move away from gas and oil for good.

Raiding the Warm Homes Plan budget would break a manifesto promise. When we last did polling on this issue, 48% of Labour voters said the pledge to upgrade cold homes was a factor in their vote. Cutting the Plan could lead to higher bills for longer and voters will see it as a betrayal.

The new energy price cap is now in force, with the UK’s exposure to volatile gas prices continuing to hit household bills. As energy firms post huge profits and households struggle, our film explains why people need lasting protection from unaffordable energy bills.

With the Energy Independence Bill + Budget approaching, it's time to take drastic action to get Britain off gas + support households through the winter ahead. That means breaking the link between gas prices + electricity bills, funding home efficiency upgrades, + moving to homegrown renewables.

Ofgem's price cap is rising today, but experts predict the worst is yet to come. All the while we stay hooked to volatile fossil fuel markets, UK households will be stuck with high energy bills, while energy giants take home billions in profit.

While households are struggling to afford heating this winter a handful of energy firms have announced over £6 billion in profits from UK operations this year alone. People need help now and protection against what comes next. Ministers must prepare before winter takes hold. [4/4]

💰️ In order to do so, the Chancellor must take a serious look at energy industry profits. This year, a handful of fossil fuel companies have made £6 billion in windfall profits from their UK operations alone – and that's with the Energy Profits Levy (EPL) already in place. (2/4)
