These grapes legitimately taste like cotton candy and are so weird.
A close-up view of clear plastic clamshell packaging filled with green seedless grapes, featuring a prominent pink and white label in French. The label displays the brand "MOYCA GRAPES" on a pink background, followed by the product name "RAISIN SANS PÉPIN COTTON CANDY™" along with an illustration of pink cotton candy on a stick and text that reads "Avec une intense saveur de barbe à papa." Details on the bottom section specify "Raisin blanc sans pépin", variety "IFG Seven (Cotton Candy™)", origin "ESPAGNE", category I, net weight "300g", along with a barcode, QR code, recycling symbols, and company details for Moyca Grapes S.L. in Totana, Spain.

No. A few students in the US protested. I was on the Columbia campus and I saw the camp. Most of the students just went about their business. Here in France, it’s all the school and many more students.
An outdoor view on the Columbia University campus under an overcast sky features a lawn filled with dozens of green, orange, and blue camping tents set up during a student encampment. Small Palestinian flags line the hedges bordering the grass, while a tall, bare tree with sparse reddish leaves stands near the center foreground. In the background, Low Memorial Library with its distinct dome and classic columns looms over the plaza, alongside surrounding brick campus buildings. On the right side, individuals stand or sit along stone ledges near metal barricades and stacked materials near the paved walkway.

It’s a quintessential French experience when your institution is blockaded by protesting students. This is precisely what American students should have done when their institutions began capitulating to the Trump regime.

That time when I drove by some giant pumpkins and one got in the backseat.
A roadside pumpkin stand displays rows of large orange pumpkins on wooden benches covered with straw, with a handwritten “MARKET” sign across the weathered shelter; several people browse the pumpkins, and a white building, green lawn, trees, and open fields are visible in the background under a partly cloudy sky.

Things you learn in an elevator: In Switzerland, it is illegal to own a single guinea pig because these animals need social interaction.
An elevator screen with a black frame displays trivia in French about guinea pig ownership. The blue screen shows a clock in the top-left corner set to 13:52 and a date of 03/10/2026. Next to this is French text that reads "En Suisse, il est illégal de posséder un seul cochon d'Inde car ces animaux ont besoin d'interaction sociale." (which translates to: "In Switzerland, it is illegal to own a single guinea pig because these animals need social interaction."). Below the time is a large blue panel with white text, "RC," which means "Rez-de-Chaussée" or ground floor, with a downward-pointing arrow and a small circle with a line through it. An illustration below the French text depicts three reddish-brown, white, and black guinea pigs grouped together over a bowl against an orange background, with a dark branch with leaves on the right.

The internet is so weird sometimes.
A horizontal four-panel meme digital graphic featuring a paleontology joke about whale evolution. In the top-left panel, a brown, four-legged Pakicetus walks toward the right on land, saying, "Indohyus, my brother. I've decided to search for more food in the waters." In the top-right panel, a green-yellow canine-like Indohyus stands facing left, responding, "You will regret this, Pakicetus. The enviornment will force you to adapt," while the head of Pakicetus replies, "I just need some shrimps lol / I will be perfectly fine." The second row features a large black header box on the left reading "50 million years later..." in bold italicized white text, while the rest of the light blue panel depicts the massive side profile of a blue whale making loud vocalizations rendered as text above it ("AAAAOOOOOOOOOOO / OAAAAAAH / MRUUUUUUUUH") alongside a tiny white-tailed deer head looking at it in shock. The bottom panel shows a close-up of the blue whale's head and baleen plates bellowing "BWOOOOOOOOOOEEEEEE" on the left, directly opposite a larger image of a white-tailed deer staring wide-eyed at the viewer on the right with the text "WTF" written above its head.

There was an article by @jtemple.bsky.social about AMOC a few years ago where I thought the energy comparison was very well done. www.technologyreview.com/2021/12/14/1...
The system carries warm, shallow, salty water northward, transporting about 1.2 million gigawatts of heat energy ross RAPID's array of moorings at any moment. That's equivalent to about 160 times the energy capacity of the entire world's electricity system. The currents, which heat up the surrounding air as they travel northward, are a major factor (though not the only one) in why Western Europe is warmer than eastern Canada even though they lie at roughly the same latitude.

While we’re on the topic of Iceland, here’s the best thing from there. Thank me later.
A clear plastic package containing round, dark-chocolate-coated corn cakes from the Icelandic brand MUNA is held vertically by a hand against a slightly blurred indoor background. The top portion of the clear wrapper reveals the dark brown, smooth chocolate coating covering the top corn cake. Attached to the front is a light blue rectangular paper label styled like a postage stamp with a decorative jagged border. The top of the label reads "MUNA" in large black sans-serif capital letters above "HIMNESK HOLLUSTA". Below, cursive script reads "Maískökur" (Corn Cakes) and "Dökkt súkkulaði" (With Dark Chocolate), followed by "Lífrænt" (Organic) in another handwritten-style font. The bottom half of the label features a two-column grid printed with detailed Icelandic nutritional information on the left and ingredients on the right, accompanied by small black certification logos including "V" for vegan, "GF" for gluten-free, an organic leaf logo, and a vertical barcode on the right edge.

I once said this to @amywestervelt.bsky.social and I stand by the statement. “I don't think you can call anything where you're getting more oil out of the ground to burn a climate solution.” drilled.media/news/ccs
"It doesn't make sense to use CCS to prolong our use of fossil fuels, especially to produce electricity," David Ho, professor at University of Hawaii and senior researcher at Columbia Uni-versity, said. 'The argument in favor of enhanced oil recovery is often that if they weren't using this capt red CO2 they'd be using some other CO2. But I don't think you can call anything where you're getting more oil out of the ground to burn a climate solution."

Picture: Vibrant red vessel gliding effortlessly across glass-like waters in an Icelandic fjord, leaving a brilliant white wake that carves through the mirror-like reflections of towering mountains and fluffy, sunlit clouds. Reality: Cold, windy, and miserable (+loud and smelly); not recommended.
An elevated, wide-angle shot captures a red and white boat cutting through calm, deep blue water, leaving a long, foaming white wake in its path. The serene surface of the water acts as a mirror, clearly reflecting dramatic white and grey clouds that drift across a bright blue sky. In the distance, rolling green hills and rugged mountain ridges stretch across the horizon, framing the tranquil fjord landscape under daylight.

Publication Fees
Starting in 2026, Tellus operates as a Diamond Open Access journal.
All articles are published Open Access with no fees for authors — no submission charges and no article processing charges (APCs).
This model is made possible through financial support from the Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL), the International Meteorological Institute (IMI), and the Bolin Centre for Climate Research, which together cover the journal's publication costs.

The natural cycles, and not purported influences of weather modification, impact the number of storms, scientists told AFP.
David Ho, professor of oceanography at the University of Hawaii at Mänoa (archived here ), said that no technology "exists to either cause, prevent, or steer hurricanes."
Rather, El Niño in the Atlantic "chops off the heads of hurricanes," he told AFP in a September 16 email.

Captured from directly below one of its base arches, the dark, silhouetted wrought-iron lattice structure dominates the center of the frame, tapering off toward its top tip near the upper edge. Bright sunlight bursts through a patch of thick, swirling clouds to the lower-left of the tower, creating a high-contrast glow and casting heavy shadows across the metalwork.
