Our response to the Scottish Budget: “it’s time to fund social care like it matters”. While we welcome the move to return £20m of funding to social care, the budget still does not go anywhere near far enough to support a sector facing immense jeopardy. 🔗 www.ccpscotland.org/ccps-news/cc...

Ahead of tomorrow’s Stage 3 proceedings on the Scottish Budget, we sent a briefing to MSPs outlining our key messages and summarising the pressures not-for-profit social care providers are still facing. ➡️ You can read the full briefing here: www.ccpscotland.org/wp-content/u...
A graphic showing a card on a dark green background. The card has the CCPS logo, and summarises the key messages in our latest briefing on the Scottish Budget:

1. CCPS welcomes the Scottish Government’s commitment to provide £20m of additional funds in the 2026-27 budget to meet Real Living Wage commitments in social care. We thank all MSPs, members and partners who helped effect this crucial change, announced at Stage 1.

2. The return of the £20m brings the sector back to its status quo, and social care funding in the Scottish Budget still falls far short of what is needed to stabilise and guarantee the long-term sustainability of the sector.

3. We ask MSPs to speak up for social care in recognition of the profound pressures currently facing the sector, and to help ensure that this government and the next know they must fund social care like it matters.

The quote reads: “In our letter to the First Minister last month, with the ALLIANCE and 240 health and social care leaders, our calls included an immediate, substantial cash injection in the upcoming Spending Review. We are heartened to see Unite share our sense of urgency.

An investment in social care is an investment in Scotland’s future, underpinning families, communities, essential jobs and the Scottish economy – and CCPS is committed to working with the Scottish Government to achieve this.”

To the left of the quote is a photograph of Rachel. In the bottom right is the CCPS logo.

An image with a green background and a colour photograph of Jim Pearson, Deputy Chief Executive of Alzheimer Scotland, on the left-hand side. At the top is the heading 'Member Spotlight: Alzheimer Scotland'. Beside the photo of Jim is a quote from him on a white background, which reads ‘It is Alzheimer Scotland's view that every person diagnosed with dementia has the right to receive the proper care, treatment and support which responds to the changing, often complex, symptoms and needs as the illness progresses.’ At the top right is a graphic of a spotlight, with a beam from it shining down on the photo and quote. Underneath the quote is an illustrated set of circles resembling pools of light from the spotlight. In the right-hand corner is the CCPS logo.
