The VSU Faculty Senate calls for: • “the Unconditional reinstatement of employment effective from the date of termination/removal" • "Return of salary and benefits prorated from the date of termination" • "A written official acknowledgment of termination/ removal and corrective measures taken."
Based on the findings of the Appeals Subcommittee, policy 207 Termination Authority has been violated; therefore, the aforenamed faculty have been wrongly terminated. Furthermore, the justification of
"reorganization" lacks clarity; no "reorganization" appears to have occurred; and the approval of the BOV for such a "reorganization" cannot be verified. Additionally, the status of tenured and probationary faculty is not to be affected during a reorganization, which implies they are not to be terminated. Faculty are not classified employees, which is why the VSU Faculty Handbook and policies pertaining to faculty exist.
Lastly, the Appeals Subcommittee has no statement or information from VSU to consider, only the statements of the aforenamed terminated faculty. The aforenamed terminated faculty have served a combined ninety-one years at VSU, have more than 280 publications, and sixty-three million dollars in grants. Hence, the Appeals Subcommittee recommends the aforenamed terminated faculty should be reinstated as they have requested in their statements to the Appeals Subcommittee:
• "Unconditional reinstatement of... employment effective from the date of...
termination/removal"
"Return of salary and benefits prorated from the date of termination"
• "A written official acknowledgment of .... termination/removal and corrective measures taken."
If the aforenamed terminated faculty's requests cannot be fulfilled, then the aforenamed terminated faculty should be "made whole."

Forcing scholars to act as cheerleaders for a shifting political agenda kills critical inquiry & international collaboration. Leaders should value scientific breakthroughs over blind patriotism. True scholarship serves the public by questioning authority & exposing failures, not by rubber-stamps. 7
Trump's Compact 2.0
Prioritizing American interests" risks becoming a national-loyalty test for research.

Evaluating academic programs strictly by graduate debt-servicing metrics reduces universities into corporate training camps for loan collectors, completely ignoring knowledge creation, civic value, and the public good as measures of academic legitimacy. 6
Trump's 2.0 Compact
The "loan repayment" standard reduces education to a debt-servicing instrument.

McMahon’s narrow framing of protesters as the primary threat to open inquiry weaponizes free speech to shield politically favored figures while completely ignoring systemic threats like legislative censorship, donor pressure, & admin retaliation. Free speech must protect the right to dissent. 5

Intellectual pluralism thrives on open academic freedom rather than federally mandated ideological quotas / political litmus tests for faculty. Attempting to enforce partisan viewpoint balancing violates the 1st Amendment & serves as a dangerous mechanism for government control. 4
Trump's Compact 2.0
"Intellectual pluralism" cannot become a federally administered system of viewpoint balancing.

Congress strictly prohibits the Department of Education from dictating school curricula, hiring, or teaching materials. Any attempt to weaponize federal funding or use regulatory penalties against schools that do not comply is a direct violation of federal law & will face immediate legal action. 3
Trump's Compact 2.0
Congress expressly prohibited the
Department of Education from becoming a national academic supervisor.

AAUP @aaup.org · 08/08/2026
The new call is rhetorically softer but wishes to achieve the same aims: political litmus tests & governmental control over universities. The thing is: administrations cannot credibly pledge reorganizations without meaningful faculty consultation & decision-making. #sharedgoverance 2
Trump's Compact 2.0

The department is asking presidents and boards to make promises they do not have unilateral authority to make.

Trump’s Compact 2.0 announced by Linda McMahon this week should be placed in the context of their failed 2025 “loyalty oath” compact that was defeated by students & faculty at every institution they offered it to. Organizing & collective pressure works. 1 🧵 www.aaup.org/issue/winter...

CIVIL ACTION NO.
COMPLAINT FOR DECLARATORY AND INJUNCTIVE RELIEF
COMPLAINT
Plaintiffs American Association of University Professors ("AAUP"), on behalf of
its members in the Texas A&M University System ("Texas A&M"), and individually named member professors Leonard Bright, Vanita Reddy, Landon Sadler, and Aaron George (collectively, "Plaintiffs") challenge Texas A&M System Policy ("System Policy") 08.01's prohibition on teaching "gender and race ideology, or topics related to sexual orientation, and gender identity" in academic coursework (the "Censorship Policy" or the "Policy").
On its face, the Censorship Policy imposes a complete prohibition, in all core-
curriculum courses, on courses "advocat[ing]" particular disfavored views of race or gender, or
any topics related to sexual orientation or gender identity, but the Policy does not impose any corresponding ban on opposing views on these issues.

Pennsylvania is on the right path. 💥💥💥 The PA Promise will make college affordable for Pennsylvania students, prevent crushing student debt, and give everyone in the state a fair shot at a college education. This is the way. 👊 @apscuf.org
"The time is right to stand up for Pennsylvania's students and their families who are often forced to forgo college or to take on burdensome student loans. Our high school graduates and returning students should not have to leave the Commonwealth to pursue their dreams. At a time when Americans are demanding both opportunity and affordability, the PA Promise is a necessity. We urge Pennsylvanians to thank their state representatives for supporting the bill, and we urge Pennsylvanians to reach out to their state senators to encourage them to bring the PA Promise to the Senate floor and to support it."
