Walking the line in my auto factory and screaming at all the workers to make the cars stupider and more dangerous. They love this, it helps motivate them. "It's going to be able drive upside down," I yell through a megaphone. "It's going to be able to fart."

The first one especially has the generic air of “tub of protein shake” graphic design about it. Urgh.

Stolen shamelessly from Facebook, (where the Simpson’s shitposting group is having a grand old time with this one).

A two panel scene from the Simpsons. Lenny and Karl mishear James Hetfield from Metallica before he speeds off in a car. They remark that he must have been yelling something about being a sellout poser.

The Deep Dark (aka ‘Gueules Noires’, 2023, dir. Mathieu Turi). An effective French-language “trapped in a mine” affair. Was pleasantly surprised when this started tying into the Cthulhu Mythos towards the end. Creature FX not quite outstanding enough to put it over the edge. Recommended? Yes.

The Excorcism (2024, dir. Joshua John Miller). Good premise: During the making an excorcism movie, is the erratic behaviour of the lead actor because he’s going off the rails, or because he’s genuinely possessed? No ambiguity and fails to do anything you’ve not seen before. Recommended? No.

HORROR! A thread of thoughts on horror flicks I’ve seen of late. (And also because I endlessly ask “have we seen that one?” whilst scrolling through options.)

A ghoulish visage from The Fast Show. A black and white image of a traditional Nosferatu character.

Another new October release: Coffins Set 2 Seven different coffins with a separate lid spare. One broken, two sealed, two with skeletal remains, one containing a stake & pile of dust, and one that's *very* heavily wrapped in chains and padlock. I'm sure that's fine.

Any time I see a comment along the lines of “it’s just style over substance” I’m like “have you actually used this as a GM vs. the modern standard of 400 pages of identikit content?” It’s an extraordinarily easy book to parse and find what you’re after.

This week weekly comic anthology 2000 AD hits a major milestone with Prog 2500. Which got me thinking, I've been reading 2000 AD for over 20 years at this point, I was a reader when 1500 dropped in 2006. For this milestone I'm going to rank my top 20 strips that premiered during the last 1000 progs.

Cover to 2000 AD PROG 1500 by Boo Cook, featuring a large stop 1500 with a statue of Tharg the Mighty standing over a parade of Judges driving by, with a group of 2000 AD characters behind a barricade looking on.
