The ACT sign looks like that because of a light source, probably a street lamp, hitting it at an annoying angle. I get those issues taking product photos all the time. The questionable thing is who took the photo, because that was taken within about a minute of it being lit.

This is from a list of great games from 1979 and this guy makes a big post about why it's the best and how it has all been downhill since. He finishes off with this rant. Imagine how miserable it must be to spent 47 years thinking this way. Nothing to look forward to, only nostalgia is good.

Text rant by some old weirdo "The huge influx of new players with no perspective driven by uninformed reviewers and the catering to the lowest tier of demans of plastic dollies and overdone art has crushed these innovative and extremely fun games out of the market. The masses are fed with game after game of streamlined play, boring themes, elegant mechanics, short playtimes, all to allow people to score wins faster and pump up play stats toimpress their friends. But where is the story? I don’t need to live someone else’s story, I want to develop my own, and I don’t need fancy art or srilted prose on some card to do so. I also don’t need to whitewash history or remove uncomfortable elements. I miss the cheap ziplocks with cut out counters that tried to present an interesting situation or some new ideas. Thank goodness these games do not become vaporware or are removed from some streaming platform…I can play my games until I am buried with them."

Adobe creative stopped working on win10, so i tried upgrading, and windows would not allow it. I had to spoof the authenticator and am now reinstalling EVERYTHING. 2 days of productivity spent on getting the computer working. I am a smidge grumpy.

We designed this entire performance as an experiment on how labels, disclaimers, and online outrage shape perception before a game is even played.

Hot take - I prefer buying well looked after 2nd hand games over new ones. Unboxing, punching out and assembling a game is tiresome busy work I would gladly outsource to anyone who wanted to do it. 2nd hand games are ready to play immediately, and I loves that about them.

It was pretty good. A bit nastier than i was expecting. Of the trinity of Catan, Ticket to Ride and Carcasonne it's easily the one I enjoyed the most. It just came out in a lull in my gaming (Honours, Masters and overseas trip/work) and by the time I was back board gaming it has passed by a bit.
