As a child I used to be intrigued, perplexed and distracted by Ernie Wise's hair cut. That comb forward bit at the side. Like was it an accident, but if so why did it keep happening? Was it meant to be funny? I couldn't understand it and I still can't.

Phoned my au t this morning. She turned 91 yesterday. I was goinf to ring on her birthday but I lost track of the date, so thought it was today. Anyway, she had a lot of calls and visitors and FaceTime yesterday so just as well I rang today when it was quieter!

I gave my personal experience as a counter to say actually, you don't have to be nearly 50 and a fan to enjoy it. And they've basically said I'm wrong, and they know the "metrics"

Around this time 10 years ago I was diagnosed with a rare form of Nasal Carcinoma. Three rounds of chemo (each 5 days hooked to chemicals for 22 hours a day). Invasive cranial surgery which removed my olfactory bulb and sinuses. Followed by 30 days of radiotherapy. It was hell.

Just spent the past 5 hours holding an injured crow. Saw it being mobbed by magpies and jackdaws. It was unable to get away so I went out to rescue it. The birds were making an awful racket. It was weak, soaked and dazed poor thing. Will ring a wildlife place tomorrow to see if they'll take it.

Tonight we watched Furiosa, then Mad Max Fury Road, which is why we're going to bed so late. They do work well as a pair but there are a few moments in Furiosa with some shonky CGI. And it's a shame it took so long to get off the ground that Hugh Keays-Byrne died 4 years before the prequel was shot.

I know I keep harping on about this and nobody is really interested but the Masters of the Universe film was so enjoyable. My other half has no real interest or knowledge of it but really enjoyed it too. Made us laugh made her jump at one point. Honestly it's the best way they could have made it.

A day later, I am still thinking about the Masters of the Universe film. Fun, funny, nostalgic, engaging and very entertaining. Enjoyed it more than I ever have a Marvel film. Lots of references; to the 87 movie, cartoon and toys. Great soundtrack. If you go, stay to the VERY end.

Just got back from seeing Masters of the Universe. Wide range of ages in audience from young kids to old farts. I really enjoyed it. If you loved MotU as a child this is the film I wished the 1987 film had been. Lots of little nods and references. We were the only ones who stayed to the very end...

On the way home saw a young wood pigeon being mobbed by two others in the road. It was having trouble flying. I suspected hit by a car. It nearly got flattened by another as I got out to get it off the road. On the grass it was still struggling. Ultimately took it to my sister's.
