pretty much, though I do also like reinhardt a lot cause he's like badass and stuff but he's also really stupid :)

oh hell yeah, I'm gonna do SOMETHING to up this rig's storage game, SATA2 is so slow!! 😭 I love "overkill" upgrades like that to older platforms so much... that's so badass to add to a c2q :)))

and yeah I've never been motivated to overclock my modern ryzen rig, with PBO enabled it boosts to 4.7ghz and it's more than fast enough for everything I do!

sometimes it can just go wrong.. I killed a motherboard as a teenager, everything seemed sane and the temps were good, but I didn't consider how the VRMs were coping, and they weren't... boom, magic smoke. xD

oh man, so that would've been with jumpers! yeah I've messed with socket 7 overclocking very little, most of my overclocking adventures have been on socket 939 and later (2004+), so I've had the "modern" comfort of jumperless overclocking via BIOS menus :)

Originally had a more period correct SSD, a Kingston ssdnow 64GB that launched in early 09. was 250$ at launch in 2009 money! Windows 10 was just hammering it though, constantly at 100% disk usage, so a modern budget SSD even being bottlenecked by the sata interface is much faster and smoother.

yup!! it's 3.16ghz base clock and overclocked to 4400mhz! The motherboard and CPU are from january of 2008. :) These chips overclocked really well and anyone with a decent motherboard and cooler could break 4ghz!

oh yeah, I got so many many many steals from that place, I can thank that place for most of my collection. I own so many awesome things I could never justify buying at ebay prices! 😅

I'm at 1.5v right now, but this motherboard and cooler handle it like a champ... that'll change quick if I put in a quad though. I have two more matching sticks of RAM on the way to hopefully bump it up to 8GB, cause the memory has actually been the most limiting factor, not the duo!

actually completed cinebench 11.5 @ 4.7ghz but settled with 4.4 for now. maybe I'll go higher, or maybe I'll upgrade the cooler, slap in a quad core xeon and see how far it can really go. funny thing is, in the single threaded test, this thing smokes my FX 8320 at the same clock speed. 133 vs 116!

also had to swap a couple of capacitors. should definitely do a full recap, but not today...

Got the case and motherboard together for 8$ at my ol recycling center when they still sold stuff to the public. it was a whole build with a 750ti, and it was FILTHY. everything was caked with dust and the fans were mostly all seized. but they cleaned and lubed up great and work really well still!

In that breath, I loaded Windows 10 LTSC on it for now because I wanted to see how the duo copes with a modern bloaty OS and web browser. The answer is, surprisingly good still! and yes, I have even been doing some gamemaker on it which also went more smoothly than I thought it would!

Originally put a 8800GTX in which was the appropriate choice, but got bored with it pretty quick, 20 year old GPUs have aged much than 20 CPUs have. I'm not trying to run period correct stuff, I'm trying to push it and see what the platform can still do, which is more fun to me :)

built a "2008" computer out of parts I've been holding onto for awhile: Antec 900 XFX NForce 780i Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 4.4ghz 2x2GB DDR2 @ 800mhz ...gtx 760 and an SSD bottlenecked by SATA2 (sorry)

"Why does x suck" Greed It really isn't ever any deeper than that. There's nuance and complexity, but at it's core all this shit is just greed.

I am not exaggerating when I say they run EVERYTHING through grok or chatgpt. EVERYTHING. Simple tasks they've been doing for decades that they're suddenly incapable of. *puts on foil* If I were powerful and wanted a helpless and more easily controllable society, this seems like a great channel.

I've watched just about every boomer in my life become completely dependent on AI. Went your whole life but now you can't form a single thought without it. When I talk to these people, I'm not talking to another human, but a middleman between me and a chatbot. And in that, they've become subhuman.
