A-Yuan is a sweet boy, compliant and joyful. But he’s been sick for a few days and exhaustion weighs on the best tempers. He’s crying, and nothing appeases him. Wen Qing gave him infusions, blankets and soothing words… to no avail.
He eventually whines: “I want… I just want my parents…”
Her heart squeezes painfully. “Oh, I’m so sorry A-Yuan. You know… your parents…”
“No. My now-parents.”
She frowns. Is he delirious?
“Xian-gege. And pretty-gege. They’re my now-parents.”
Wen Qing doesn’t know if she’ll laugh or tear up ; that is both adorable and perceptive.
And ammunition to tease Wei Wuxian.

Spring
Wei Wuxian spent the day scrolling on educational websites. How do you survive the “terrible two” phase? Lan Zhan and him have been struggling forever. Every site advises asking grandparents for help.
Summer
“Uncle is not available.”
“I WON’T ask the Jiangs. But…That’s not fair! That’s our anniversary week-end…”
Fall
“Cousin A-Ling says he’s got his paternal grandmother’s eyes and his maternal grandfather’s chin. What about me?”

“Shh! He’s coming! HEY! JIN ZIXUN! Have a drink!”
Zixun snickers unpleasantly: “You think I’m stupid?”
“Yeah of course, but not the point,” he mutters under his breath. “Oh, you don’t trust me, right? Look: I’ll drink first. I’m making peace with you.”
And he gulps a mouthful of his mixture. It’s actually quite tasty. Jin Zixun takes it from his hands and pushes him roughly out of his way to drink.
“Lan Zhan is avenged,” Wei Ying whispers.
“Wei Ying… Jie’s out of this medicine…”

Meng Yao runs in the crowded streets. The herbalist said he’s got no more of this medicine, but his mom needs it! He’s really scared this time. She was so… No. He won’t think this way.
In front of a temple, he hears her voice in his head: “Son: always take time for goddess Guanyin.” But he has no time!
When he arrives home, the faces of the other ladies tell him everything he has to know — and dreaded to.
He should have stopped at the Guanyin temple.
Now it’s too late to say he’ll never make that mistake again.

“You can do it, Wen Qing, you’re the best doctor…”
She interrupts him: “Don’t flatter me! I can’t. I’d need to see where to cut not to damage anything. And he’s already weakened.”
Silence weighs between them.
“If there was a machine that could show me…”
“Oh,” Wei Ying blurts out “…not a machine but… maybe…” He’s absentmindedly stroking the side of his nose.

And of course he did it. The talisman is incredible: Wen Qing can clearly see the bones and even the organs, slightly lighter, as if Jiang Cheng’s skin had been removed. Surgery will be a success.

Yanli and Zixuan are exhausted with the new baby.
Wangji thought it would be okay to take care of A-Yuan alone even with a cold.
This is the hardest day of his LIFE. (and now he’s becoming as dramatic as his husband.)
Morning: finger painting (cleaning ensues). Lunch with leftovers (Wangji is not proud.) Afternoon…
“What…?” He wakes up.
“For you a-die: hot chocolate with cinnamon and honey.”
…
A-Yuan even put it in his own favorite bunny mug!!!
Lan Zhan fights the tears. They’ve got the best boy!

That was his turn, and to Hell if he gives his place!
But…
Jiang Cheng is slowly regretting having A-Ling home while sick.
“Why do you tell the story like that? You talk funny.”
Jiang Cheng sighs: “I’m sick, A-Ling.”
“Then don’t! That’s weird.”
“What do you want to do?”
“Swimming! Sword forms! Night hunts!”
Jiang Cheng is exhausted just listening to that program. And four is too young for Nighthunting anyway.
A-Ling pouts very hard: “YOU’RE NO FUN!”
“LOOK! Despite work I’m still with you, right?!”
When he wakes up on his desk, A-Ling has helped him with work.

“I can take you to my sister, she’s a doctor,” Wen Ning whispers.
Wei Wuxian huffs a sour chuckle: “We can’t afford a Wen Doctor. I’d rather we wouldn’t die and leave shi-Jie as the last Jiang.”
Wen Ning frowns and Wei Wuxian wonders for a minute if he angered him. “N-No,” the boy stutters. “She’ll help you. I promise.”

The ‘feral cat’ tried to hit him and has refused they call the police or a hospital. He’s crouched in their inner courtyard. Xingchen has managed to give him a blanket but he can’t get him to come into their home or tend to his wounds.
He goes back to him and sits.
When he pulls out a candy the man snaps his head to him.
“Want one?”
“No…”
With eager eyes.
Xingchen throws him a bunch of candies. He catches them all.

A hop next to the low bed reveals the culprit: “Heeey Bunnyyy,” Wei Wuxian’s voice trails. His hand slips out of the blanket and falls to the floor. No more energy to lift it to tap on the ground to lure the rabbit forward. Too bad.
He closes his eyes. He’ll never get to pet them like Lan Zhan.
His eyes open again when something wet touches his fingers.
He smiles.
Lan Zhan won’t believe it.
