If I don’t know the answer on clue 1, I may as well have a little fun with it. #c.r.e.a.m #wutang
LinkedIn Pinpoint game, the first hint is “Everything” and my guess was “things that cash rules around me” as a Wu Tang clan joke. The guess is incorrect and crossed out, revealing the next clue of “Anchor”

Famously when I want to hide my data exfil from foreign adversaries, I also do it using UDP via Netcat. No one would ever look at UDP via Netcat.
Screenshot from Season 2 Episode 1 of The Undeclared War, featuring a subtitle that reads "Uh, no. Trusov used UDP via Netcat." as an answer to the question of whether the Russians are aware of their data loss. There are three old white men sitting at a table with tea cups on it, as one is to expect from a show about the UK government.

Just got this absolutely sick new art from Bolt Industries. I’d tag the artist but I can’t find him on Bluesky - ian_dunn@defcon.social for fediverse, though. Cant wait to get this hung up. The street lamp, the occasional lightning, the way the rain falls off the side of the umbrella. Very cool.

I’m on iOS 26.3.1 iPhone 16 Pro. I can’t reproduce it right now, though. When I copy an image and paste it, it is pasting the link and then bsky appears to be fetching the link and attaching the image? Have not seen this behavior before lol.

Yeah of course I can't get RFC2549 as a license plate in California. Buncha nerds in this state.
A screenshot of the California DMV website for requesting personalized license plates. I entered "RFC2549" into the plate characters and checked availability only to be told it's unavailable via a red error message at the top of the shot.

The kubernetes we have at home
A charmingly low-resolution photo of a ground-level kitchen cabinet. The door is open and there is a hodgepodge of various tupperware items, many looking like they belong to completely different sets. Some might be old sour cream containers, can't really tell.

It's a joke about how kubernetes is a container orchestrator and this is container chaos.

I feel like my ability as an engineer unlocked when I accepted that, most of the time, everyone in the room knows a whole lot about things I don't, and I know a whole lot of things they don't. They just need my help because my expertise ended up becoming the foundation for them to do theirs.

I am following up on the interesting thing where `truecrypt.org` was purchased in early 2025. It looks like it is basically the same as it was before it went to auction, but the footer has this weird Trump comment in it.
Screenshot of webpage footer. From left to right:

"Updated on 10 December 2025 - Legal - Sitemap - If Trump hadn't been there, this site wouldn't have existed"

I'm prepping to blow away my Windows 10 machine and probably abandon Windows forever, and I found this "exploit.bat" in my documents folder that had been sitting there for 6 years. Could probably get a CVE for this in 2026...
A closely-cropped screenshot of a file called "exploit.bat" open in Sublime Text. The contents of the batch file is a single line that reads:

C:\Windows\system32\calc.exe

I don't remember any of the context on why I made this, but found it again today in my projects folder, and it remains true today.
On the left, photo of German Sociologist Max Weber. On the right, white text on a black background that reads: "Infosec is an institution that holds a monopoly on the legitimate use of insecure software" and the quote is attributed to "Max 'Hax' Weber".

I’d like to submit Oakland, CA for the most “wtf” Trader Joe’s parking lot.
A satellite image of the Trader Joe’s parking lot on Lakeshore Ave in Oakland, California. It vaguely resembles one of those cancer survivor ribbons or maybe a child’s rendition of a fish.

Ah from the web app you can get there but you have to click "view full playlist" from your playlists page (www.youtube.com/feed/playlists). If you click the playlist itself it'll launch to the video player window. From there, you'll also have the handles on the left side to drag them to rearrange.

@swiftonsecurity.com your deleted post caused me to lose some very well crafted alt text on images I was posting in response, but bsky won’t let me reply to a deleted post. Try this outfit if you want to counteract your LLM observation.
Stock product photo of a black baseball cap with white text on the front of the cap. The text reads “Maybe AI can generate you some bitches”Photo of Del The Funky Homosapien holding a microphone, wearing a white t-shirt with black text on it. The text reads “Never let a computer tell me shit” and the shirt is a collaboration between Deltron 3030 and Adapt. The text is a reference to Deltron 3030’s Things You Can Do song.

Forgot about this very niche meme that relies on knowing both Donnie Darko and that Intel has special clean room suits called Bunny Suits.
2-frame meme. Top frame: Screen cap from the movie Donnie Darko, caption "Why are you wearing that stupid bunny suit?" Bottom frame: Photo of a man in a special cleanroom suit known as a bunny suit with Intel's logo on the chest, holding a silicon wafer. Caption "Why are you wearing that stupid human suit?"

Terrible photo of the end credits of Plane (2023) in a movie theater. The screen says “The Plane Will Return.”

I am home finally and this con was a crazy one for me. It was busier than usual, but in all the best ways. It was my 10 year anniversary of defcon. I joined the C&E goon team. I helped Hak5 get pineapple pager preorders into the hands of hundreds of excited customers. I was on the soundtrack (DFIU)
Defcon 33 badges and lanyards laid out on the desk. A silver and green “Human” badge at the top. A yellow “Contest” badge to its lower left. A purple “Vendor” badge to the lower left of the contest badge. A pink “Artist” badge below that. An orange “Goon” badge at the bottom, with a red goon patch with “dade” printed on it attached to the lanyard. Additionally, the Social Engineering Community Village badge, the Subnet Music Project winamp device, and the Hak5 20th Anniversary floppy disk across the bottom of the photo. Above the goon patch is a Hak5 WiFi Pineapple Pager. Above that is a yellow smiley pirate poker chip that I 3D printed. To the right of the chip is a holographic Grifter card from the Black Badge Raffle trading card game. And finally, below the Grifter card is the music schedule card with my name on it, a special keepsake from my first live defcon set.

Last night, I rapped live at @defcon.bsky.social for the first time. During my song titled “DFIU”, I attempted to get off stage and ripped my pants. While literally singing about “don’t fuck it up,” I fucked it up. Could not have been funnier if I had planned it. Still finished the set.
dade on stage in a custom canvas jumpsuit, white on one side and black on the other. Microphone in hand, action shot of rapping a song. Hak5 pineapple pager clipped to my jumpsuit, and a lanyard with a yellow floppy disk hanging around my neck. Screen in the background is filled with green scrolling text.

Fun coincidence that I launched my new weekly youtube video series on the day that the channel turned 8 years old. Had no idea.
Screenshot of youtube creator dashboard showing latest video performance for "PROTOCOL - What is a protocol?" on the left side and an achievement that my channel is 8 years old today on the right side.

Source view and reading view of Deciduous in an Obsidian vault. It scales the svg down to fit the note's width automatically. It's definitely super jank but I could probably publish it.

I actually might be able to make the plugin myself and would be happy to contribute it wherever. Just need to fix the weird rendering behavior, but otherwise this is a yaml triple backtick block labeled deciduous, and it renders the svg directly in the note
