"Facism is the act of self-deception in service of making your own life more painful, solely for the payoff of making life more painful for people you dislike."

User dratsab huffman asks the question:

To amuse myself i researched revacholian nationalism as well as measure head's race theories etc etc and focused my character on "traditionalism".

Anyway, ive noticed that if i ever click dialogue options that are in tune with my character's political compass, i lose morale. Whats the point of having this as a mechanic if its going to be so detrimental and feels like the character doesnt believe he actually is this or something... is there anyway to overcome that kind of morale loss?

Recalcitrant Jester replies:
Being a fascist is a deeply demoralizing experience. You have to not only radically alter your worldview to make reality fit into your unhinged schema, but that worldview is predicated on the notion that the weakest, most unworthy degenerate worms on the planet are somehow overpowering and humiliating you on a moment-by-moment basis.

In mechanical terms too, the lowered morale also reduces your volition score—the more you indulge in your delusions, the less you are able to exercise self-control and self-awareness.

The point of fascism being mechanically detrimental—the ludonarrative theme—is that fascism is an unequivocally self-destructive ideology, the practice of which only serves to nurture that self-destructive urge and turn it outward. It's not like Dark Side points in KotOR where you can access cool new abilities and get to enjoy being such a nasty lil rascal; you are not supposed to enjoy being a fascist in Disco Elysium. Fascism is the act of self-deception in service of making your own life more painful, solely for the payoff of making life more painful for people you dislike.

[ #art ] "καιρός" poem by klausthecloset

Swim in the dusk, inhale the hush.
Let silky landscapes form
To shield off the light storm.

Remain awake, it ain't too late.
Here, the odd stars arose,
Faint signs of the kairos.

No more is seen, much like a dream.
Now, night muses are dust
Sifting beyond our grasp.

Because of @drawfeeshow.com and @julialepetit.bsky.social I started sending a terrible gnome cartoon* to my buddy. Tricking him into opening texts and emails with the gnome, he hated it This went on for 4 years and cultivated in sending a watercolor of it. His wife loves it

A screenshot of a cartoon gnome sitting naked on a pot. He is only wearing a hat and his beard obscures his body. The expression is surprised and bug eyed. He wears a green stocking hat. Picture form a video game The Case of the Golden Idol from a locker full of salacious material

My buddy holds a watercolor of the gnome and looks delighted but pained

His wife placed the watercolor upon their mantel near their wedding photo

The gnome on my art desk. The lighting and bloom of the watercolor make it appear like you've caught him off guard, like shining a flashlight into his private chambers

Epithet Erased (Museum Book - 122/131 pages) @epitheterased.bsky.social · 08/11/2025

I thought it might be fun to write and release some 1-2 page quick short #EpithetErased stories and snippits with some accompanying drawings while we're in between larger releases. Do you guys have any suggestions for what you'd like to see? These would be canon snippits.

I had to entirely re-export this. I drew it nine years ago and the files were corrupted. It was funny opening up the old files and seeing how different my priorities were and how many basic mistakes I was making. This sequence was my baby back then and I remember being so proud of it.

I generally don't pay much attention to the "For You" at the top of a YT channel page (if I go directly to the channel page it's either see their latest is or to look for something specific) but the insistence of this thumbnail juxtaposition on @drawfeeshow.com cracked me up as I scrolled by

Tops of two thumbnails, one reads "Who's that character?" and the next reads "Seriously, who is that character?"

snake hunt (midway fan poster for s3 yeah woo!!) #Drawtectives #art

The Drawtectives in a stylized Spire City. At the top, a starry rat comes out of a mural, its eyes and whiskers bright gold. From one paw, a dark starry road winds down and turns into a blue-green snake lashing out at the bottom. Below the snake is a map outline of the city with sewer lines. The Drawtectives are in mid air, looking determined, and Eugene stands behind the snake. The background is a tiered skyline of the city.
