#WIPSnips (I want to start sharing these again!) From AnimalsWIP! Raquel struggles with sensory overwhelm in a big city. She's from the countryside, not used to city bustle.

Roads upon roads, paved, with hundreds—no thousands—of familiar forms and human forms pass us. The magic power of all six of the gods hums, vibrating the air around my skin. The noises, wagon wheels, animal noise, chatter.
As breathtaking as it is, I force my eyes back inside the dark cover of the wagon. That does nothing for all the magic and noise. It pounds with my heart, in my ears.
A piercing headache forms at my temple, and I press a hand to it, groaning.
Sam, sitting in the back this time on his break, studies me. I can feel the eyes of Sam’s other recruit, Marco, staring at me. It doesn’t help.
The magic buzz turns from amazing to itchy, like sweat and dirt irritating my skin, and I let out a frustrated noise. I curl my legs closer to my body.
