oh oh - instarec! #DutyFirstKissLater is a jbl romcom that just started airing, and i'm already smitten by the kirk/spock dynamic between the two detectives - ESPECIALLY with that age difference. just pour it directly into my eyeballs pls (MyDramaList summary in alt text)

promotional poster for Duty First, Kiss Later with the two leads sitting on office chairs side by side with legs crossed, both in black suits with different colored ties - red and blue - and the show's title in japanese and english at the bottom. summary:

"Takoi is a kindhearted, unmarried detective in his forties assigned to the Criminal Affairs Division of the peaceful, semi-rural Yamanomichi Police Station. A non-career officer, he is well-loved by people of all ages in the local community.

Constantly at odds with him is Shiono, a handsome junior officer in his twenties from the Community Safety Division who is on the fast-track career path. The two clash over the smallest things every day, and to make matters worse, they are also neighbors in the police dormitory.

Just when their relationship seems destined to remain a nightmare, everything changes after Takoi is unexpectedly set up on a marriage meeting."

EP 2 HAS LANDED 💖 more notes: the very clear manga moments fit oh so well into the general tone of this show. its established comedy is based on slightly exaggerated silliness as the default setting, so the spin into outrageous doesn't feel too abrupt. and the cast commits 100%! #DutyFirstKissLater
