The US military has been ill equipped for modern war since about 1950 - see Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq. In fairness though, the last 4 years have seen a huge change with the emergence of cheap drones. Systems that were fine before then now get overwhelmed.

Here’s the issue. It’s not that the military isn’t equipped to fight. The problem with this conflict is that the weapons they’re using are for softening targets before close combat (invasions). Trump wants to say he won a war but he also doesn’t want mass casualties. So he wastes our munitions.
