Anand Menon @anandmenon.bsky.social · 12h‘We don’t have the money for that’ says the former Chancellor who cut NI twice when we couldn’t afford it for purely political reasons. 11519108
Lyn Whitfield @lynwhitfield.bsky.social · 7hWhile backloading in public sector cuts that commentators and think tanks universally described as undeliverable. As chancellor, Hunt was a total disgrace. 040
Capt'n G. @unwelcomeguest.bsky.social · 11hHow can someone so thoroughly discredited by all but the grifter class be called to interview by the premier radio news provider 😳 1150
Paul M 🇮🇪🇨🇦🇫🇷🚲🍉 @onebiskuit.bsky.social · 11hCutting NIC was the right thing to do - it is a tax on work, plain and simple. The *wrong* thing was that he didn’t transfer (some of) it to income tax rates - workers would be neutral-to-better-off while rentiers and affluent pensioners would pay more. 1121

Wozbunny @wozwoz.bsky.social · 10hIn the 70's and 80's we had police on the beat, a new mother would be in hospital for 4 days after delivering her baby, public parks and spaces were well looked after, public services were public... What happened? 151
Môr Leidr @bartiddu.bsky.social · 9hThe glee evident in the eyes of those born rich and privileged when they get the chance to make the poorest poorer… Hunt had a lot of that 160
Philip Taylor @philipjtaylor.bsky.social · 1hAnd did he not lure Labour into silly manifesto tax pledges? 000
Pascal (Miner for truth and delusion) 🇪🇺 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 @pascalr57.bsky.social · 4hWhy do we allow voters to forget these things? But then Starmer/Reeves should have made the case for ré establishing NI at the previous rate but instead made the foolish promise of No income tax nor NI increases which then forced them to apply that to employers. Their greatest mistake in my view. 000
Robert Saunders @robertsaunders.bsky.social · 11hIt's amazing how Hunt keeps popping up on the media as the wise old greybeard of the Exchequer, and is absolutely never questioned on his own disastrous - and highly partisan - choices in that job. 1023238
