It was the most obvious thing ever that game discs were getting ditched soon and yet I still feel this weird melancholy. Like we all knew this was coming and yet here I am feeling all sad about heckin video games. I think it's mostly a culmination of this + the last few years of weekly bad news

In terms of playing habits not a lot actually changes for me with no discs. I'll still be playing and loving video games, unlikely on Playstation but hey I was on the fence about buying a PS6 anyway. I think it's more the very obvious hyper profit maximisation squeeze users thing that feels so sour

Im old school. I like my cases and disc. I remember when they stopped putting playing instructions with the game.

Yeah, same here. Especially post covid the writing was on the wall. My local stores stopped stocking games because nobody bought them. And there sure are bigger problems in the world, but that doesn't make one of the small little comforts being killed by a monopoly any less disheartening.

I knew something was fucky when Redbox started talking self degrading disks. They already did that, but they wanted to ACCELERATE the process. It was always shoving us in this direction and frankly all the commotion was a bit of a surprise to me.
