The FFVII remake at first blush feels like it very much wanted to be a movie and grudgingly put gameplay in as a nod to fans of the game. Incredibly linear. Bouncing from setpiece to cinematic. The combat feels put in to make me feel included. Like giving an infant an unplugged controller.
