I never know if petitions make much difference but I want my government to know that trans rights are human rights and TERFs are a harmful force in the country.

Petition: Allow transgender people to self-identify their legal gender.

We believe the government should change legislation to make it easier for trans people of all ages to change their legal gender without an official diagnosis of gender dysphoria.

The government changing their minds isn't going to happen without a debate in parliament. But, at least it will be useful for getting the mood music there. I agree with this 👇 ladies view. bsky.app/profile/litt...

Megathread of pro-trans petitions on Parliament’s petition website. If Labour suddenly gets hit with debates for a bunch of pro-trans petitions, maybe they’ll realise this issue isn’t going away and they’ve fucked up. I’ll add more as I find them. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70...

bsky.app/profile/litt... There's a load of petitions collated here, in case people want to sigh.

I've never seen a government petition lead to an actual change of outcome (that I'm aware of) but their official nature does mean they're the best way of directly showing the people in charge how many people care about an issue. I'll always sign these ones for that reason.

In my experience petitions never made any difference. In politics it is just acknowledged and sent to an archive. In commercial disputes against closure of certain public buildings sold to private companies, petitions are filed into nearest waste bin.

Thank you. I signed this, because the ridiculous reply the government originally offered has now been completely destroyed by the dreadful Supreme Court ruling.
