Pavel @spavel.bsky.social · 17/03/2026Many predictions about AI are simply wishful thinking. "Now that AI is here, designers will have more time to focus on quality." Really? Is that what you see happening? Is that the trend, is that where the incentive structure is leading us? 1633767
Mlip @mlip16.bsky.social · 18/03/2026My predictions on AI is coming true I work in the payments industry & have dealt with/ tech ppl for years. Every time they introduce new tech it always goes the same. This is the best thing ever. Then we sell it to find the problems, then they teach patience while we deal with pissed clients 000
I Heart Noise @iheartnoise.bandcamp.com · 17/03/2026Could it be that AI is a pyramid like bitcoin/NFTs. I remember how agitated everyone was when bitcoin just started - everyone wanted to be a part of it. 240
designfactotum @designfactotum.bsky.social · 17/03/2026a tale as old as automation itself hci.social/@designfacto...hci.socialArmin (@designfactotum@hci.social)Attached: 1 image “There is still a widespread belief that automation, computerisation and the use of robotic devices will free human beings from soul-destroying, routine, backbreaking tasks and leav... 290
Jennifer Keith @jkcreative8.bsky.social · 18/03/2026Not one designer on earth thinks AI is a good thing or will help their career. It’s meant to destroy it. 010
Matthew Toledo @matthew-toledo.bsky.social · 18/03/2026It is mathematically impossible for AI to match the quality of the source material it was trained on. It can get close, but the energy and time needed to generate better answers decreases profits. Remember that old saying "fast, cheap, and good--pick 2". AI is fast & cheaper than a human, not good. 000
sibirin.bsky.social @sibirin.bsky.social · 18/03/2026The tech world also told our parents that the computer would let them get their work done more efficiently so they would have more time for family and leisure/hobbies. Turned out it meant 3x the work, less pay, less vacation, and constant oncall without reimbursing that either. 130
Pavel @spavel.bsky.social · 18/03/2026Self-described tech optimists tell me that anything is possible in the future and I'm just being a killjoy. But are you doing anything about it, or just hoping really hard that the future will contort itself to accommodate you, against the wishes of the forces actively funding the opposite outcome? 58210
typing pumpkin 🎃 @typingloudly.zip · 18/03/2026It's a weird combination of "this is clearly powerful when used thoughtfully but all the incentives and engagement tuning steer toward the opposite of that" (i feel social media is also exactly like this) 020
mbtar @mbtar.bsky.social · 19/03/2026Haha. What I'm seeing is decision-makers trying (yet again) to take away agency from crafts people. Tools being built to remove us from the equation altogether with the goal of offloading PMs with the work of their entire tech department. 100
Ben Brignell @benbrignell.com · 17/03/2026We will be able to produce things more quickly so we can focus on more quality in much larger volumes of quality 140
5,000 Epstein Files for Every American Adult @tobellz.bsky.social · 17/03/2026The accomplishment of "AI" is that humanity has invented a tool that delivers ephemeral efficiency gains while driving the humans who use it crazy. 050
yitzi2.bsky.social @yitzi2.bsky.social · 18/03/2026This. If we had a better incentive structure, an AI worthy of the term would in fact have that effect...but we don't have a suitable incentive structure *or* an AI capable of using it. 000
Bi King Gent 👑 💖💜💙 @thesnarkygent.bsky.social · 17/03/2026Just like with crypto/NFTs/blockchain/the Metaverse, every single obvious failure, issue, ir negative externality is papered over with the empty promise of an "inevitable" perfect future version that fixes all that through magic. 140
Marsel T Paint @marselthepaint.bsky.social · 17/03/2026Clearly, designers weren’t focused on quality before AI showed up 110
Randy Au @randyau.com · 17/03/2026I always snort when I hear that research will get AI faster, like.. y'all gonna fund bigger survey incentives and more recruiters to bring in participants, or stop running 5/users/day "experiments", right? RIGHT? 090
