You'll never see anyone talk about Thing Doer on LinkedIn or hear about it in conference talks. There are no Thing Doer masterclasses. Yet everyone from the compost logistics industry simply calls it "the software" because every company uses it, and composters get trained on it during apprenticeship

As a Boring Risk Management Professional, I am finding myself increasingly unable to cope with this bullshit. Just…securing the networks, in ways we’ve known how to do for decades and are hard for people but oughta be easy for AI, would prevent so much.

I wouldn't call our the software we use for taking leave and creating purchase orders the most beautiful in the world, but it has the EXACT aesthetics of Windows 95 and mostly works fine, so, yes.

Everyone in the compost logistics industry religiously maintains three (3) servers on the last OS version that Thing Doer supports.

I remember a Thing Doer at an industrial company I worked for! Only one person, a woman, worked on it, and she picked her own hours. It was based on dBase 3 and if 2 people were in it on the same record they had to do a call tree to find out who and where they were. Brilliant.
