This is exactly why my newsletter, which is allegedly about design, mostly covers stakeholder management. Design outside of the decision-making structure is just documentation. And if you assume that design should *own* those decisions, prepare to get shut out by the established power centers lmao
When it’s not safe to leave or possible to transform the kind of environment that demands you demonstrate the ROI of UX, I find it helpful—purely for my own mental health—to reframe it as keeping good working relationships, educating stakeholders. And not think about how it factors into layoffs.
