For a while, the consensus was "UX makes the pictures" but that consensus is broken by shitty, heavily subsidized AI.
If you're asked "why can't AI replace you?" then your environment has no way to judge *quality* of outputs beyond "designerly taste." Fix that, and the answer becomes obvious.
it's interesting because i've been in the UX-o-sphere for like 20 years now, before "UX" was even the umbrella concept, and the whole "seat at the table"/"ROI of design" trope was well-worn by the time i got there
