There's a reason you must take into account conventions (as in: unwritten standardizations) whenever you do almost anything related to UX.

But at least the Betty Crocker shrinkage is motivated by straightforward greed. Most of the UX redesigns aren’t even saving anyone any money. It’s just wheel-spinning.

Humans are excellent at filtering unchanging inputs. I think this is scientifically referred to as: “you can’t feel your underwear. “ So we redesign in the hopes of passing filter.
