The buddleia lake pigment is out and drying. The run-off was still extremely yellow. I tried laking it again, but the colour wasn't picked up. So I got a v. pale precipitate & still yellow liquid. Not every colourant is gonna get precipitated with aluminium hydroxide. Such is life/chemistry 🤷 but…

Top down view of a very pasty off-white lake pigment in a coffee filter in a filter basket. The point here is that it hasn't really capture much colour, & looks a bit meh.

The liquid running through the filter from the previous pic collecting in a beaker. It's very bright yellow.

…I'm wondering if it might work as a dye for cotton paper that's been prepped with aqua fans or soya milk to coat it in protein 🤔 Anyway, here's the buddleia lake. So yellow 💛 I've read that this also works with flower heads that have gone over, so I tried that too. Will report back!

A coffee filter full of yellow lake pigment, that's been split at the seam and laid out flat to dry on kitchen paper and then foil.
