& While we're on micro moths (all of which are underrated, this is my hill, fight me) some colourful tiny pals: 4. Green oak tortrix 5. Variegated golden tortrix 6. Common yellow conch 7. Golden tail-flash (I refuse to call it a ruddy streak, so rude) + a teeny bug pal I haven't identified yet!

A teeny tiny delightful green moth, with a slight netted pattern to its wings, round eyes, wirey antennas, and thin spindly legs. It has a somewhat startled expression, which could be just because moths don't have eyelids, or because I woke it up 12 hours early. In which case, that's fair to be honest.

Another glorious little micro moth with wavy wing patterns in various shades of yellow and golden brown. You can just about make out its round eyes and wirey antennas. A+ tiny moth pal.

A very lovely and also tiny yellow micro moth. It's shape is long and a little pointy. It has thin brown lines on its yellow wings. Nice contrast there. Delightful stylish moth friend, would recommend.

A very lovely wee micro moth with a long triangle shape, and pinkish grey wings with an egg yolk yellow stripe along the edges. 11 out of 10 moth buddy. Speaking of buddies, there's some kinda hemipteran bug pal next to it that I didn't notice until I zoomed into this pic. How delightful!

8. Willow beauty - it's beautiful, good name, A+ moth pal. 9. Teasel marble - I had to stop crafting using teasels from my garden because I found the larvae of these little buddies overwintering in them!

A delightful wide-winged willow beauty moth. It has brown wings covered in a pattern of lacy black and lighter brown lines. Big round black eyes. Comb-like antennas. 11 out of 10 good moth, would recommend.

A tiny but glorious teasel marble, a little wedge-shaped micro moth with velvety wings richly patterned in shades of black, tan, grey, and cream. It has little round grey eyes, wirey antennas, and an adorable little punk tuft of hairs on its back. Perfect moth pal, no notes.

More moths I forgot to pelt you with: 10. Big pink chonk season is upon us! Elephant hawkmoth caterpillars eat the willowherbs & bedstraws I've encouraged in the moth garden, & adults drink nectar from the wild honeysuckle. Want big pink chonks? Got some outdoor space? Grow weeds...

A magnificently aerodynamic, sleek, triangular shaped elephant hawkmoth. It has pink and olive green colouration on its wings and fluffy body, and thin white legs and antennas. It may or may not make tiny aeroplane noises when it flies. I would. If I was a hawkmoth I'd be yelling 'nee-yoom vroom brr zoo-oo-oom' as I zipped about the place.

Side view of the big pink hawkmoth on my fingertip. From this angle you can make out how it's wirey antennas have short comb-like teeth and tuck under its wings. It's thin white legs also have a spur on some of the segments. A+ moth buddy, just delightful.

This picture serves to raise the question: why do people say 'big puppy dog eyes', instead of 'big hawkmoth eyes'? This moth has friggin adorable big round eyes. 11 out of 10, better than any dog, never have to clean up its poop, would recommend.
