DG TRADE's Dora Correia responds to comments on the #CTIP by saying very little of substance that's not already in existing documents. Avoids criticisms brought up by South Africa's communities or trade unionists. Says the EU is responding to a call by South Africa ("not our fault, gov"). 1/2

2/2 Correia says that the CTIP is responding to South Africa's coal dominated energy sector (80+%). Yet building vast quantities of renewable electricity to be used to produce green hydrogen, which is then exported, is NOT going to clean up the grid. Predictably disappointing.
