The kids are privileged. They’re warm in bed.
Every night I think: let them get old.
Let them see the snow, let them breathe
the cool air even when it's cold enough
it hurts to breathe. Wrapped in cotton, dreaming,
not asleep, thinking that I want
to breathe again.

Frank Podmore (he/him) was born in London and is still there and alive at time of writing. His poetry has been published by Stanza Cannon and in Apparition Lit, and performed at the Wigmore Hall. He won the Freshers' Writing Prize in 2015. His comedy writing has been broadcast on BBC Radio and he has also written op-eds for Sublation Magazine, road.cc and other publications.
