Celestial Fang 🩸 Artist @celestialfang.bsky.social · 26/11/2024I like turn based games waaay more than live combat games Taking the time to organize everything and think about numbers is so relaxing 4547026
Kevin @mammalianhybrid.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Turn based RPGs are always more enjoyable than action RPGs for me. I love card games for similar reasons. 120
The Baltimore Care Bear @bfg301.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Depends on the game for me. I'm just finishing Yakuza like a dragon and loving it but not a big fan of the tactics style games. 000
matt6661.bsky.social @matt6661.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Turn-based RPG’s can train a lot of useful skills in more fast-paced environments. Very useful “big picture” strategy. *Most* live combat games boil down to a 3-second chess match, it just takes a lot of mechanical practice to know how to move your pieces. 010
Kogami Shinya @jaredcrane8.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Playing many turn based games recently. Yakuza and Persona and balatro. They definitely are pretty good. Especially at things the western companies struggle with 000

Xecryo @xecryo.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Yeah I used to be big on RTS games but once I played Civilization I found it so much more fun taking my time and thinking about what I want to do. Needing to react in real time is too much pressure to be fun. 000
Galexi @galexiscollective.bsky.social · 26/11/2024I'm gonna say something the haters won't like: I am too smooth brained for turn based. The numbers and stats confuse me, and I have no idea what's going on after taking an action. ARPGs? I hit, I smash, I combo. Still suck, but I'm having a blast 130
Sir_Lazz @sirlazz.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Couldn't agree more. Just ask me about my 700h on Xcom 2 000
kykyan123.bsky.social @kykyan123.bsky.social · 26/11/2024I’m an ATB junkie it feels like the perfect mix 000
Old Kurgan @thegreatkurgan.bsky.social · 26/11/2024For me, it honestly depends on the context of the game. If I am playing a D&D-esque adventure, I am very much in agreement, but if I am playing a game like Dragon's Dogma, I NEED it to be action focused because it makes me feel heroic. 000
Tojeaux @tojeaux.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Tactics games are my #1 game genre, but yeah turn-based RPGs are also so fun for me too. Im really sad that its so niche these days. 120
Colt / Reyals @coltpogue.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Same. People always say turn-based games are boring, but I find hacking and slashing with the same 6 moves way more tedious and boring. With turn-based, the fun is in planning the attack more than the actual attack animation. Gah. I love turn-based games and wish they were more respected. 1100
🔞🔞🔞Puffer Frog 🔞🔞🔞 @pufferfrog.bsky.social · 26/11/2024I prefer live combat way more. Im a kind of person who gets bored very easily. Even in turn based games i find myself mashing through combat due to how slow shit are. Sides, its more therapeutic for me to blow heads up in the moment after a long day of serving shit ass customers. 000
Skydragonace @skydragonace.bsky.social · 26/11/2024*cough* X-Com *cough cough* ;) Haha, I get what you are saying. As i've gotten older, i've really been enjoying a more casual way of playing games, and it's been extremely fun and relaxing this way. 000
Golove Yourself @goloveyourself.bsky.social · 26/11/2024I agree, but for the reason of “my hands are dumb and there’s no way I can do what I want since I have a massive skill issue” instead. 000
Athenari @athenari.bsky.social · 26/11/2024i agreed, also idk why but it always feels satisfying to pass the stage with your own problem solving skills 000
Knight VTuber Ragnell Avalon @ragnellavalon.bsky.social · 26/11/2024I have a habit of doing this so much in Super Robot Wars that my mods call it "Super Menu Wars" and I try to limit how much I do it on stream 010
Logos Eternal @logos-descends.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Try these one's if you haven't already: Final Fantasy Tactics: Difficult to find, unforgiving, best turn-based game, only on PS2? X-Com: Aliens, explosions, unforgiving The Banner Saga: Story, unforgiving, and a true dark horse 000
MoxieGrrl @moxiegrrl.myatproto.social · 26/11/2024I enjoy literally all forms of RPG video game, but I grew up on turn based JRPGs so they are my comfort games. I am also MASSIVELY excited for the new Phantom Brave at the end of January because we've only waited for 20 years. 010
Oop's all Lae'zel's @puddingwayy.bsky.social · 26/11/2024I agree. Plus I have significant hand issues but I enjoy playing on hard modes. Easy mode while easy on my hands does not stimulate my brain enough...why turn based games are perfect for me. 120
Jimmy Glam @jimmyglam.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Have you ever played Octopath Traveler 2? Very worth your time if you like new games that feel like old turn based JRPG's.media.tenor.coma video game character is standing in a bubble surrounded by monsters ..ALT: a video game character is standing in a bubble surrounded by monsters .. 120
George Bailey @georgebaileysghost.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Absolutely! You get time to think tactically, like a General! 000
30footspirit @30footspirit.bsky.social · 26/11/2024What are some good ones? I'm not good at video games so they stress me out unless it's one not reliant on speed & accuracy 120
No Liberation Without Education @foolmetw1ce.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Fire Emblem: Awakening is one of my favorite games for this exact reason! ...and definitely not because of the dating sim aspect...😶🌫️ 000
Bloody Proceed @bloody-proceed.bsky.social · 26/11/2024I adore DOS2 and BG3, such fun games that reward thinking. Especially DOS2 with its movement manipulation. Always incredibly satisfying when you stand next to two enemies, swap places with another enemy AND teleport another enemy on top of all 3. Dropping AOE on 4 enemies makes the setup worth it. 010
E-Goth @e-goth.bsky.social · 27/11/2024I really like turn bases games because they seem to always be packaged with an interesting narrative and I can look away to do something else while combat is happening. 000
Kevin McCarthy @ogremkv.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Totally agree. I don't want my GPU pumping out realistic people, I want it pumping out a planet at a scale of 5 kilometers per hex. 010
Danjo @tfacs.bsky.social · 26/11/2024I like both, like when an action game is all about those numbers and taking your time to prep methodically. 000
Sara 🍓✨ @starryghost.bsky.social · 26/11/2024This! I was so worried about enjoying turn based combat because all the other games i enjoy are nothing like that, but now im like why isn’t EVERY game like this?! As an anxious girlie, this is so much better! 010
houraiji kyuusyou - COMMISSIONS OPEN (8/8 SLOTS AVAILABLE) @saviour-of-light.bsky.social · 26/11/2024honkai star rail can and will sour one's perception of the genre as a whole, but you can get over that hurdle 000
veteranvandal.bsky.social @veteranvandal.bsky.social · 26/11/2024It's true. Besides... The real time combat that's cool is usually team based. Turn based is... Based. :) 000
starstoart.bsky.social @starstoart.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Love me some Fire Emblem, Love me some SMT 000
zillah975 @zillah975.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Yeah...but the chaos of an MMO live service 1st person shooter with multiple subclasses for your subclass, build-crafting, an array of guns AND bows and swords AND space magic, with optional never-ending hordes of aliens to fight can be so cathartic. Each is kinda a mood. 💙 000
autumnthegeek.bsky.social @autumnthegeek.bsky.social · 26/11/2024Does anyone have any non fantasy turn based games? I have played Library or ruina and persona. 000
