I have taken thousands of photos on this trip, but to give you an idea of the variety we encountered, it was just under 2 weeks ago we arrived in Halifax to freezing rain, and were greeted by snow flurries and gorgeous sun within an hour of each other on the run back bsky.app/profile/mmbb...

arrived 2 hours late into Halifax due to freight getting priority and the freezing rain, but at least it's very atmospheric

and I did make sure to travel on VIA Rail's one serious (for North America anyway) intercity rail offering, business class was nice but not much to write home about - the 3 hour delay was certainly memorable but not in a good way bsky.app/profile/mmbb...

I made it to Toronto a few days ago, meaning I've now completed 1,890km of my 6,296km transcontinental rail journey.

nothing beats The Canadian though. this was my 2nd time taking it and it's just such a breathtaking trip, rolling from Ontario's lakes and forests to the prairie and into the Rocky Mountains is just stunning. rural ontario feels like another world compared to back home bsky.app/profile/mmbb...
