I watched Florida taken apart by corrupt rightwing governors who destroyed so much. Oregon might not be perfect, but it has a functional government that has preserved many human rights other states have lost. Please don't take that for granted-- reelect Kotek as governor. Hold fast.

I just want to say, too, from a place of deep and abiding grief, that Florida once had fact-based government that served communities and had good land management. It took so little to tear all of that apart once the rightwing and developers took control.

Oregon is more of a home to me than Florida ever was, but it was still those swamps and longleaf savannas that raised me, and where dear family members and friends still live. "Deep and abiding grief" is a good way to distill some really complex and messy feelings I have about it.

My concern is what is always is every election; that OR is so blue it’s easy to be complacent and one of these days we’re going to forget to turn off the stove and blow our joint up

Thanks for saying it. What’s happened to Florida is horrifying, how quickly things can just be ripped apart and destroyed by short sighted and hateful government. The grief is deep, yeah.
