Gothic Marxism: A manifesto on the dark way of being red.

Adam C. Jones & Jon Greenaway

Spectres, ghosts, horror and monstrosity are everywhere. These discourses are not simply aesthetic or cultural markers. These are political symptoms, produced by a necrotic and decaying capitalism. As a result, the last few years have seen an increasing interest in an analysis of the horrors that surround us, for a Marxism that can speak to the bleak, seemingly haunted nature of our present moment. What follows is not intended as an exhaustive or rigid program for Gothic Marxism, but a series of interrelated principles that feed into one another, acting as a guide to shape analysis of the current conjuncture and, like a flare in the night, illustrate our own illumination on the dark way of being red.

Gargantuan Eldritch sky-cowboy, looming over a desolate snowy hillscape, screams joy into an empty universe.
