ME/CFS Science @mecfsscience.org · 16/08/20262) The genes associated with ME/CFS were enriched in several of these synaptic categories. Here's what the main result looks like. The table shows the names of the categories, the number of genes, and the P-values associated with them. 180
ME/CFS Science @mecfsscience.org · 16/08/20263) The results mostly point to the postsynaptic assembly and scaffolding at the membrane, so more about how synapses get built and wired rather than how they fire and release neurotransmitters. 391
Lex @lxpeanut.eurosky.social · 16/08/2026Interesting that is the opposite to the assumption that ME is transitory and caused by inflammation reducing nerve function. Would that mean that even after recovery people with ME are left with permanent damage to the nerves? 110
Didier @medidier.bsky.social · 16/08/2026So more about the 'structure/matter' than function if I understand that right? 120
ME/CFS Science @mecfsscience.org · 16/08/20264) For those curious about the methods: we used MAGMA to convert the DecodeME data into p-values associated with genes. This is done based on position, with a window size of 0: DNA letters that fall within genes contribute to the p-value of the gene. 180
